Texture mods!

Well...
Now that the SDK is out and Crytek's own high res textures were less than spectacular, is there anyone going to make a REAL texture mod? :D
Well there was MaLDo's one but it only works in 1.1

Better get your 2gb video card ready!

I was wondering about the improved texture compression techniques that came with DX11 - BC6/7. For those with knowledge of these techniques, would they allow greater compression rates whilst retaining quality. Are these techniques being used with Crysis 2 and the high res texture pack.

There is a guy called MaLDo which works on it. And to be honest it shts all over Crytek so called high res texture pack where i havent really noticed anything big.

While watching MaLDo textures comparison the difference is night and day.

I'd like to know if Maldo's textures have displacement mapping and how much vram they use - less or more than the Crytek HR pack.

Most of the textures work well, however, the textures of rock, brick, road, not running in DX11, I managed to make them work by suppressing the textures of the pack with their xml file, and so use more Ram because most of the textures are really HD 2048X2048 or even more...

I play with combined crytek pack and I only have 4GB of ram and it works fine.

Maldo pack is about 535 MB and the visual difference is huge compared to the HD pack (lmao) Crytek which makes it 1.75 GB, I do not understand why a pack of this size we do not see any difference, placebo pack ?

Haha very true xD an real high res pack doesnt need to be based on comparisons. It needs to make an noticeable difference when playing!! something which Crytek so called High res pack FAILS BIG TIME!

When playing with MaLDo's high res tex pack, the difference is truly noticeable. Textures are sharp and clear.
