Not sure if any of you have read http://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/2181-fallout-4-texture-resolution-comparison article but after reading it I've come to the same conclusion. I'm wondering though whether this is a bug due to bad LOD management. I have seen quite a few times now where textures/models aren't loading their high resolution set when you get close to them. A good prime example of this is Thicket Excavations LOD models not loading properly. Actually found a video demonstrating this exact bug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQfhledkb-k
I'm wondering if this possible bug is also effecting the texture mipmap management too in not loading the higher resolution mipmap texture when the player gets close. I have to admit to seeing quite a lot of blury, peasoupy soft low resolution looking textures that suddenly pop to high resolution after a few seconds and sometimes not popping in at all.
Just thought I'd bring this up for discussion, food for thought and all that.
