My Textures Are Dissapearing!

Post » Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:38 am

Arrrgh! I changed the USA flag model's texture from usa flag to my homemade union jack texture and it was fine to start with. But I put it in the game, came back to it a couple of times and now its suddenly taking on the textures of any nearby objects.
I made sure all the directories were linked properly and re-linked everything but now the texture is bright red, as are some of the other textures i've made.

Really hoping there's a solution to this because texturing them in the first place was stressful for me (shaky hands means alot of ctrl+Z) so I'm really hoping someone has a solution.

Thanks :brokencomputer:

It could be an archive invalidation issue. If you have FOMM, try clikcing the 'Toggle Invalidation' button. Or you can download and install http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944 and never worry about that kind of issue again. But, I would also think that your textures would be wrong to begin with in the game and not go from working to red. So that might not be the issue.

Did you use a 'Texture Set' object? That is really the best way to retexture an object.

If you did the 'old' way of copying the NIF and changing the texture path there, then I would suggest using the Texture Set instead.

Other possibilities, the game does not like the settings you used on the texture and is ignoring it, thus, no texture shown.

Well, then it might just be that your textures are bugged for fallout. You can't use multiple layers - have to merge them. What compression did you use? DXT1-no alpha/DXT5-with alpha? Maybe moved some files accidental? I'm just throwing stuff out there, seeing if anything sticks.
