texturing is hard. another question! :D (with pics!)

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 1:14 am

Man, ok, so I made my first completely original texture ever. I'm pretty pleased with it, but something really bad happens when she's in full-on sunlight. Keep in mind I really have no idea how to texture, I just kind of did this without doing anything technical or having any kinds of maps or anything.

http://i.imgur.com/ZFQ7d.jpg <-- Sunlight turns her into Michael Jackson mixed with Octomom, apparently. :/ Any thoughts?

Also, I got this shot, which I thought was just so superb, mostly because of the amazing lighting and stuff. It's PG-13 I think but if it's too nvde please don't ban me D; I just think it's a really pretty picture: http://i.imgur.com/8eR0H.jpg

Anyway, really sorry for all the posts all the time. If anyone minds, please let me know and I'll try to cut back.

Thanks as always <3

edit - oh, the texture is 1024x1024 if that matters.

It looks to be just the games lighting. Your darker pic was taken close to a torch, if you look at the ear on the left in the shadow you'll notice it is paler. You want her to look like that in the sunlight then you'll have to adjust the colors with an editor. If whatever art program you use support gamma editing. use that, otherwise contrast, brightness and hue changes will get you there. You'll get better with practice. And that really really good for a first time anyways.

It's can be also the NiMaterialProperty in your mesh.

You can edit this by opening the mesh in Nifskope, then expand the NiNodes by clicking the arrows beside the top one. You will see one named "NiMaterialProperty". Just Right Click on that and Click on "Material" and adjust the sliders to your liking. This could help. This could do nothing. This could make it worse. Just depends ;p

Look at the BB meshes to see what settings are for the NiMaterialProperty, to help you

Actually, since it's only a new texture and not a new mesh, it kept its "skin" material property. Do I still need to do anything?
