Thane question: can I be more than one?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 1:00 pm

so I'm Thane of Whiterun with Lydia.
I completed a quest line (forgot the place) and the Jarl said she could make me Thane if I help her people.

1) can you be Thane of more than one place?
2) will you get an additional follower?
3) what happens to my home and follower if I accept the other Thane request??

thanks

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. They stay in your home in that city.

You remain thane even if you take sides in the civil war. That's odd because, as a thane, you're supposed to uphold the current ruler not helping one of the involved parties to overthrow him/her.

I did not retain my Thane status in Whiterun after helping the Stormcloaks take over. I had to talk to the new Jarl and actually buy Breezehome. This could be the only exception, though, since becoming Thane in Whiterun before any Civil War quests is required to buy the house in the first place; everywhere else requires you to have a house there (if one is available, that is).

I became thane in Whiterun before owning a house, or you didn't explain yourself right...
