Thank You, Bethesda.

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:08 am

I would just like to say thank you for everyone at Bethesda for making the Elder Scrolls.

No other game has such a diverse history and lore in their games, combined with great story and the feeling of doing anything and (almost) everything. Reading books is a hobby of mine and to read books in a game was mind blowing for me, and learning about new lands and people in that world was awe-inspireing. The Elder Scrolls is one of my all time favorite games since I was five. All the games have stolen many hours of my life and I enjoyed every second.

Also, to the fans on the forums, every time I get on here you all have (almost) something new to ponder on about the series. Be it lore, gameplay, story, or just to ramble about the next upcoming game. I've never met a group of people so devoted to a single games series as me and I'm glad I joined the forums when I did, in-between games you all kept me riveted until the next one came out.

In short, thank you all!

P.S. To the mods and admins you guys keep on keeping on.

I figured out that the only kind of games that can even come close to appeasing my appetite are Bethesda games. I recently picked up Starcraft 2 and have already put it on the shelf as I'm totally bored with it. It probably took about a week. I could play a single character Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout and it'd last me for several weeks. I'd be playing for 4+ hours a day too. :)

Its a shame that these amazing games come out that i've been waiting on for many years and I just skim through them.

THIS.

no other developer can do open world games nearly as good.

Red dead redemption, Far cry 2... good in there own way fail when it comes to making use of all that space.

I share your sentiment OP... I really only care about elder scrolls games now. Im 26 years old, been gaming since the Amstrad 464, snes ps1,2,3..

Im only concerned about modding the current ES games and checking out New vegas when it comes out.

Bethesda pretty much cover both sides.. shooter/fantasy.

please make TESV :D

I think Bethesda's sandbox style games have spoiled me. But as a noob to the gaming world in general, I feel lucky to have so much left to enjoy.

Oblivion was my first game. Played for six months after a friend gave me his game. Then purchased a new computer and got Oblivion GOTY, and was busy for six more months. Went to find Morrowind, but the store didn't have it so I got Fallout 3 GOTY. What a blast! THEN, took a break from Fallout 3 and added the OOO and Lost Spires mods onto Oblivion and began exploring all over again. Fallout 3 and modded Oblivion should keep me entertained for awhile yet.

And the best news is, I haven't even started on Morrowind and New Vegas is coming out soon!

Yeah, I'm just as anxious as a lot of other folks for info on TES V production and do keep a close eye on the speculation thread, but it looks like I'm going to have a lot to explore in the meantime.

Thanks Bethesda!

Whenever I look for new RPG's these days, I can't help but think that I'll never find one as good as Bethesda's. For that, I thank you!

I too would like to thank Bethesda for spoiling my enjoyment of almost every other game out there by making them all seem so inadequate and inferior in comparison :foodndrink:

I discovered Oblivion around the time I became virtually housebound with illness and I cannot tell you how grateful I was for being able to escape into the world they created.

Yes thank you beth, oblivion was my first elder scrolls game and will most deffinatly remain my favourite game (unless number 5 is pure heaven). So yeah.. thanks for the countless hours and awesome moments in probably the most believable and thought out world in gaming.

For me, it's the fact that I've played so many games (Final Fantasy, Castlevania, almost all the Tomb Raiders, Baldur's Gate, Crusaders of Might & Magic, etc) where I've wanted to just explore a bit, but the game won't let me. There will be a groovy-looking forest just off the road, for instance, and I'll push my character in that direction

*bing*

...can't go that way. No, as good as these games are sometimes, you're still stuck following just one (or maybe 2) paths. Oblivion has endless paths to explore! So yea, THANKS BETHESDA

Ha! That's funny you say that cuz one of my friends recently got Starcraft 2 and he's like so psyched about it! He keeps wanting me to try it. Meanwhile, I gave him Oblivion GOTY version for his PC over a year ago and he hasn't even touched it yet because he hasn't got the right sort of system. I keep telling him GET A NEW COMPUTER THAT'LL RUN IT! We both used to play D&D and stuff years ago so I know once he tries it, he'll never touch Starcraft 2 again!

Couldn't agree more. I'm always a bit reluctant to buy any new game, and after discovering Bethesda's games, I always seem to wind up disappointed when I do. Case in point: I recently purchased Red Dead Redemption. I was really excited to play after watching the opening sequence, but I have to admit that I'm already getting bored with it (I've had it for about two weeks, and probably only played for about a week). I can tell that once I finish the main story I will shelve it and probably never pick it up again, which is really a shame. It has some really cool elements in it, and the graphics couldn't get much better. All in all, its a good game. But.... it just doesn't really do it for me. There is no sense of character progression, nor is there much reason to explore the map. And after playing Bethesda games, it seems as though it is necessary for these elements to be in a game in order for me to want to continue playing and/or replay a game. Thus far, only Bethesda has managed to immerse me in a game so much that I feel like I'm living in another world.
