Thank you Crytek and EA

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 8:42 pm

Just wanted to say thank you for ruining Crysis for me.

Please note I am well aware there are people out there who are emjoying this title, and that's great, but for me, the Crysis experience has come to an end.

I truely loved FarCry, enjoyed ForCry 2 and once again, loved Crysis.. but for me, that's where the story ends.

I had such high expectations for this title.... oh when will I learn that Trailers, Screens, Interviews simply don't give an accurate representation of the product?

There are so many "issues" with the demo as to why I am put off, I just can't see the final version being much better. Here are some of the issues I had when playing the MP Demo:

"Quick Match" - Is that supposed to be funny / ironic? 20 minutes later and it finally lets me join a game. But then it informs me "01:18:00 until match begins" ONE HOUR, 18 MINUTES?! So I quit out, give it another go. Time and time again, I'm being told "The game you are attempting to connect to is full" Oh really? I and not trying to connect to anywhere, the game chose that server!! Not me! Now, i'm not going to pretend to know how or what the server setup is, but could it be that the demo is not connecting to dedicated servers... but in fact shared servers with high loads? If this is the case, then you know the answer to the connection issues that a LOT of people seem to be having.

Weapon power - Again, is this meant to be funny? I'll stand there, pump a full mag into someones chest, at near enough point blank range, and what happens? They hit me with a malee and I die instantly......... hmmmmmmmmm

Actually, at this point, I'm running out of energy even complaining, and i'm sure there are a number of fans who are going to start arguing with my post but I am simply expressing my own opinion of the demo.. which of course is of no importance what so ever.

I do appreciate you guys releasing a demo though.. means that when the full game is released I wont be wasting any cash.

Good luck.

- A sad ex-crysis player

Most of those issues you described are server end and a result of the demo stressing out the servers, which is allowing Crytek to see these issues and iron them out pre-release.

Wait for the PC Multiplayer Demo with Dedicated Servers before you pass judgement on the server and netcode lag, as dedicated servers should be much better than the peer2peer networking of the consoles.

No thanks. I haven't had a PC powerful enough for PC Gaming in a couple of years now. I got tired of the constant game patches, driver updates, driver tweaks, hardware updates just to get decent gameplay / fps.

I understand where you are coming from, but its not just the server issues that have put me off.. I just got tired of listing them all. The graphics don't look as spectacular as I imagined.. everything seems very bright and shiney (yes, the colorspace is configured properly on my 40" 1080p LCD TV, yes it's showing via extended HDMI 1.3 and calibrated.) The sound effects are ok, although I don't find the positioning on my home theatre as clear or accurate as Black Ops / MoH / Gears. the menu music is incredibly annoying.. doesn't motivate me to play the game at all. Just all in all, I came away from the demo feeling let down, not all pumped and excited about the pending release.

As I said before, my own personal opinion, which means f.a. :)

The graphics are the best there is for a console. If you are going to cry about graphics then get a new PC. The music and sounds are obviously personal taste so can't help you there.

Seriously though, for $600 you can get a PC that can play Crysis 2 with twice the graphics capability of a console and twice the framerate, making it a lagless experience.

You played FC, FC2, C, and CW all on the PC and yet you are trying to compare C2 with those titles playing on a second rate console version now.

haha I was waiting for a post like that. Why can't people just let my own personal opinion by just that? Rather than try and argue the points i've made. IN MY OPINION the graphics aren't that great. Ok? In YOUR opinion they are. Personal taste, exactly like the audio.

Please don't try and tell me I can get a PC that plays Crysis 2 with twice the graphics capability of a console. First off, I've built in the region of 250 - 300 gaming PC's and well aware of costings / capabilities. Secondly, I have zero interest in a flame war over Consoles vs PCs for gaming. Both have their advantages, both have their disadvantages.

If you did not want your opinion to be disputed, then you should not have posted it.

The whole point of a forum is to compare opinions and debate about it. If you do not want your opinion to be debated then do not post for the whole world to see it.

You obviously have no clue how a forum works, you cannot just post an opinion on the internet and scream at anyone who disagrees.

hahaha classic. "The whole point of a forum is to compare opinions and debate about it." hahaha. sure it is :) Here was me thinking the whole point was to share an opinion.. not specifically to have people try and argue with it. I wasn't screaming at anyone.. I was simply reminding you that it was nothing more than my opinion. Trying to tell me that my opinion is "wrong" or "innacurate" is rediculous. It's my own, personal opinion which you do not share.

I'm all for debate.. but when its stated "..in my opinion.." why respond with supposed facts? All you had to do was say "I disagree", not try and convince me im "wrong".

Why did you mention Far Crap 2? That game was from a completely different company and was an insult to Far Cry.

Your opinion is comparing four PC titles to one console title and 90% of your complaining is lag and graphics.

No sh*t Sherlock, of course it lags on a P2P network and bad graphics on a 5 year old console!

Your opinion is crap. If you were to play it on the PC and then complain about those problems comparing it to those PC titles you just mentioned, then I would be a bit more interested.

Until then, go ahead and cry some more because your $300 crap heap has network lag and the graphics don't have 16xAA in 1200p.

Indeed, it does seem that the OP is whining 'zomg not as good as crysis!' when he is determined beyond reason to play it on a console. *sigh*

Hey look, one of these threads. Allow me to post in it. Here are the lyrics to the song in the most recent Crysis 2 trailer:
We are the Prodigy
Invaders must die
Invaders must die
Invaders must die
Invaders must die
Invaders must die
Invaders must die
Invaders must die
Invaders must die
Invaders must die
We are the Prodigy
Invaders must die

You **** C2 commie gtfo this forum you troll. If i had a chance, i would smack you so hard, you will bleed.

They don't need to, it's assumed a standard feature not worthwhile of mention because they do know how to make PC games.

^this

I really don't think that Crytek needs to announce it when it is such a standard expectation for PC games. The only game that caused this nervousness over dedicated servers was Modern Warfare 2, and every company in the business saw how much of a failure it was, that even the sequel Black Ops has corrected it almost completely.

Well heres where you went wrong:

A. you went from a gaming PC to a console
B. While your complaints are completely legit, those can be easily fixed
and C. you went from a gaming PC to a console

The PC MP demo will be MY final verdict.

"as clear or accurate as Black Ops". Are you serious murdo? Black Ops has horrible audio quality. My krell 400xi and B&W 703's can tell the difference. I imagine your system isn't as spectacular as you think it is.

Actually, you were probably already dead before you even saw the guy. That's server lag. By the time you saw him, he had probably already shot you and moved on. He's close to the server and your much farther away. So his movements are being kept track of in real time, while the server loses track of you for large amounts of time ( computer wise ). So the server just guesses where you are going and puts it out to his console until it hears from you again. Happens to me all the time when I have high ping on a far off server. Unlike old games, you don't glitch or warp on Crysis when you have high ping. The server just guesses where you are puts that up to all the other players clients, until it hears from you again. I've put whole clips into people, and then it looks like they killed me with one shot. Thats when you know your lagging bad. Only thing you can do is get your ping down by joining a much closer server.

If you never had a good enough PC, how did the Crysis experience ever begin?
Crysis is and ALWAYS will be the game that PC gamers look to for graphics benchmarking for this generation, believe me the demo is nothing to go by when looking at visual fidelity. Im surprised the Xbox 360 is managing to cough out the Cry Engine 3!
Stay optimistic, its early days yet. Crytek have a load of bugs to iron out and plenty of code crunching to get through over the next couple of weeks. Crytek have little to prove when it comes to ironing out a good product, I have moderate faith in them at this point and im sure the final product will be nothing short of stunning, Graphics/Gamplay wise.
