+1! That's a relief... I hope that ultimately new multiplayer maps will be available on official servers and we will able to see all famous maps we know from the Crysis wars.

I know I will be around when that modding support comes, but I'm afraid that there wont be many with me, too many will just ignore this game. Shame, they should have delayed a month or two more to have it all (or at least most of it) polished and ready.

Unless they crap me a patch soon that will allow me to ACTUALLY play the game, this company's business model is broken. Fix the most critical issues that prevent people from playing the game before focusing on anything else. That's basic Business 101 advice you're getting for free Crytek, that I normally charge a $150 an hour for *lol*

Fix the disconnect issues plaguing a lot of people out there, dammit!

If we spread the word (, like I do,) that will for sure help to get them back. See, there aren't a lot of games lately that are supporting modding such as making maps or even to have tools like we were used to 2/3years ago. I think that Crytek kept his word and they are indeed working hard to make it better for us and for them.

With the tools coming right now , you will notice alot more people are going to make creative stuff as in Dev mode and mapping. We already have a bunch of people that are taking this as a hobby and maybe even planning to be in the game-/programming industry.

@tonis01, have they drop support or gave more support. They can't dumb the game down by this news.
Promotion, Marketing, CryEngine sells. More patches and community support is needed.

Sure I can agree with you all, that they should have brought more pre-news earlyer, but play/mod/map the game soon or leave it be :)

TOO much work to be done. A lot of the stuff in CE3 is console crap. The lighting and water doesn't look as good as CE2. Shadows are borked. Physics are screwed. I personally don't see much that can be done with the thing, unless they are willing to bring back all the good stuff ( lighting, water, physics, vehicles, etc. from CE2). If I find that those things aren't in CE3, I and probably most of the modders will just stick with C1, Wars and CE2.

I have a bad feeling CE3 stands for Console Engine 3.

I think you forget about what is been created already on Crymod. Such as tweaking oout Crysis 1 and Crysis Wars with mods. Think about what is ported to what. Crysis 2 ported from the consoles or ported from PC's where the Editor was already active and not posible for consoles.

And I think you missed this one:

"This will be a complete version of our engine, including C++ code access, our content exporters (including our LiveCreate real-time pipeline), shader code, game sample code from Crysis 2, script samples, new improved Flowgraph and a whole host of great asset examples, which will allow teams to build complete games from scratch for PC."

And !:

"will allow you to build new maps, items and more custom content for Crysis 2"

Can't wait for this, even if people do leave for a month or two (hell its summer, alot of people will leave their pc's for a few months anyway), they will probably come back to test this out. I might for once play around with it for fun.

I do think this will let us finally test our PC's, as most objects in the game are hard-baked into the floor, and if we let those objects get real physics, i don't think it'll be as 'streamlined' as we think CE3 is.

You do realize that CE3 is way superior than what you stated, right? We also don't have CE2 SDK, unless you mean the Crysis SDK. When you're making big projects, there is alot of work to be done, that's the way games are made.

Plus, consoles have nothing to do with the engine itself. Yes, it supports console game development, but really, how's that bad? This is an actual opportunity for groups to go further in development for whatever they intend to create, be it for PC or console or both. We're getting a full on engine here to make our very own stuff with.

But I believe the SDK is only for those who really want "Creative Freedom" like it stated in the open letter. The fact that we're getting an editor for Crysis 2 means that small time mods can still be made.

So to sum it up, we get:
A) Sandbox 3 editor (To make Crysis 2 mods)
B) CE3 SDK (To make things that will extend into it's own)
