Thanks for screwing up the keys even more then before!

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 12:40 pm

With the patch they released today Bethesda managed to screw up the keys even more then Before, now activate and Quick loot is the same key and reload and open container. Why cant you let us bind our keys our selfs?, i hate the Quick loot feature and have Always done that. If you cant let us bind the keys our selfs at least give us the option to disable the stupid Quick loot feature!, it's almost 2016 and we cant get the option to bind our own keys...that is scary!

But did they fix the issue when you are in a Power armor and you want to move a dead body, if you miss to pick the body up you exit the Power armor...that you could have fixed but did you?...NO!!

No before the patch you had quick loot on ( R ) key and quick loot on ( E ) key, now after the patch the activate and quick loot is the same key and reload and open container the same key.

Before the patch apparently, the Quick Loot button stayed as 'E' even if you remapped your 'Activate' button somewhere else. For most people this was inconvenience and from UI point of view, it certainly was an error since the default is 'E' for both. The patch fixd it so that if you remap your activate somewhere else, the Quick loot button follows the suit. Guess this post found the one user who used that oversight as a feature.

If you were using the numpad keys to activate favourite items, that might be the case. Earlier, apparently, the numpad numbers worked the same as keyboard side numbers for activating favourite items. Noe the numpad keys are separately bindable so you need to bind them to your favourite slots. (if that's posssible)

OK if the Quick loot was on E Before non the less they still have screwed up the keys, i DON'T want to quick lot when i use my activate key on a dead body or a container!

Why not let us chose which key is the frickin quick loot key and the key to just open up the container?!, or at least give us the option to disable the lame quick loot!

Before the patch i could use AutoHotKey to fix this, but that is not possible any more when they have made the quick loot and the activate key the same key and reload and open container the same key!

Also why not fix the issue that you step out of the Power suit if you try to move a dead body and you for some reason miss to do that?

Why did they not fix the issue that if you have a grenade or something like that equipped and do a Power hit you trough the grenade instead?

These things they could have done but did they?...NO, they just made the key mapping even worse for some players!

If they opened up the numpad, it was for we lefties. Thank you Bethesda! Without auto hot key this game would have been carpel tunnel syndrome.

It is lame they don't let users bind any key to any action. I just don't get the hard code in today's world of games.

I probably repeat myself, but you need to deal with it. We are a minority, and Bethesda doesn't care much about people having a high demand of customization. Todd wants you to play with a gamepad just as he does.

At one point in the future they will completely drop any support on PC players for their games I'm afraid, because they know modders will fix it for them. I wouldn't be wondered if that happens, after what PC community did to them with the payed Mod disaster.

LOL this post made my day :)

A couple years ago I wouldn't be caught dead saying this, but... I'm using a 360 controller, and playing on my couch, until all the keybinding issues have been completely, 100% sorted out - in other words, we can bind every separate action to any key, whether through the menu or whether we have to do it ourself in an .ini file - and that includes having separate keys for things that Bethesda decided should be the same key. Honestly, anything less is simply unbelievable for PC gaming in the year 1995. From the OP, I take it that's not the case, so I guess it's back to the couch I go.

F4SE will facilitate very detailed key bindings, I understand. Just remember the short lag between F4 version and F4SE update time.

And they didn't change anything for the movement key in construction mod.

Z still isn't fonctionning for whatever silly reason, E is still the "construct/select" button even if we have remap it.

I was so happy to read that they changed the keymapping,..

What are you talking about? That is exactly what it was like before the patch. If you are using a mod for your hotkeys then that is the problem, not the game. Stop complaining about every little thing.

Don't post anything if you don't understand what the whole issue is about, I'm not using any mod.

Mofakin! Whats up bro!?

You gettin' into FO4? Looking forward to some modding in a few weeks!? :) Can't wait to sample your stuff! (your mods I mean . . . not the beer in your fridge or that cheesecake you have left in there the past few weeks . . .)

A "Clean Up Your Corpses: Wasteland Edition" is much anticipated!

Yes, I, too, am saddened by the loss of the number pad key functionality. The change was so that "Number pad keys can now be used for remapping" - remapping what?

They fixed the loot containers, maybe after I spammed the PC forums three times about the issue. Excellent, thank you bethesda! Truly! But! The work is not done yet folks, hold that coffee cake. Workshop Mode still has hard coded keys, like 'E' for build. Rendering some of us 1%'ers that use ESDF absolutely useless. But wait, there's more! The keys in VATS also seem to be hard coded, because I can't shuffle through my targets ... hold on! Lemme try WASD... yep, that's it. More hardcoded ness. The VATS one i'm not sure is even fixable unless they open up more options in the key bind menu. And how about custom quick keys instead of just 1-9? The whole point of using ESDF is so you can open up 2-3 more keys for your left hand. I'd love to be able to bind some mines or drugs on my fingertips.

Yeah, why exactly are people still expecting basic functionality from half-assed PC ports in 2015?

Bethesda just can't win. You release a broken game, people complain. You break it more, they complain louder :shakehead:
