So....Thanks a Lot

You get response like that because you come off like you want sympathy and you do seem to be entitled because you want a luxury for less that it is being sold for. And you seem to have your priorities wrong. You have no disposable income yet want to buy luxuries.

Because you make the totally-not-ignorant parallel of immaturity and age.

O to touch on your GW cash shop statemtent, are really that nieave to think that you dont spend more on cash shop crap in a month then if you just paid a monthly sub and got access to all the content. There is a reason a company goes to a cash shop, its to make MONEY and they make more with it then a company does with a monthly sub. You people see no sub and you think wow i get to play for free when in reality you are paying 100 times more to get thos pretty little cash shop items then if you just payed a sub and worked your ass off to get those things through the game itself.

I can understand where you're coming from. I'm a big fan of GW2 partly because of the fact it has no subscriptions. I keep it installed on my PC and can jump in for a bit of PVE and PVP whenever I want, I've bought the game and I can play it whenever I want. While some may scoff at $15 being a lot of money, for a lot of people that $15 actually determines whether you have enough money to fill up your car that week or completely pay that power bill.

And while I personally think the era of the sub-based MMO is coming to a close, GW2 is unfortunately the exception, and it was always a gutsy move on Arenanet's half to actually follow this model. ESO may go F2P eventually, but clearly Zenimax believes they can get maximum profit from the game at launch and potentially convince people to keep playing (and paying). Its a shame that you might not be able to play ESO due to the sub fee, but who knows, it may go F2P in the future, and until then you've still got the constantly-updated Tyria. :)

I have a Christmas gift card for Gamestop.

it's what I got for Christmas. So I'm sorry I cannot go to Gamestop and sit there and say "hey I want cash from this giftcard" and go on my way.

I decided that I'd take the opportunity to get some of the newer games. I haven't boughten a new game in a long long while. Nothing for 60 dollars. Nothing when it was fresh. I always wait for sales and I'm talking gaming on the cheap. Like 8 dollars, Deus Ex Human Revolution.

You know, all that had to be done wasn't even sympathy just a discussion and instead I get attacked.

Sorry, but the more kids you have in a game, the more stupid munchkins you have to deal with. Yes, being older is not a guarantee of mature behaviour, but you have a better chance that way. I'd pay extra to be able to play on a server that enforced a minimum age of 35 or 40 (not that this could be done, but one can dream).

Come to think of this, I don't believe someone is this blind. Sorry, but I think this guy is just fishing for attention. AKA doing something I am not allowed to accuse others of on this forum.

Honestly if you only wanted discussion, you shouldn't had even brought up your financial situation because that does make you look like you are fishing for sympathy and entitled.

Also this has been such a dead horse subject that they lock these topics almost instantly because they get so toxic. In fact, I'm surprised that this one is so open.

F2P is really much more of a cash grab than subs. Trying playing STO, you can easily get 2-3 boxes an hour that cost a dollar to open. Customize your ship - oh that's another $5-10. Want a new costume another $5-10. Rift is slightly better, but you still have to pay to increase your bank and bag storage and you have to pay to play the SL souls.

I like subs. With them you don't nickel and dimed.

I'm one of those people. I think I only 15 dollars once on GW. But for the most part even when I was working I never had the money for it. But if I did, because GW was free to play I'd be more inclined because I like the game and am a fan of the series and want to support the company.

Thank you. Someone who is sensible.

I think the gutsy move worked for them. I admire a large company saying, we don't need people to pay subscription fees and we know they will spend money on us. A big name doing something like that is admirable.

I only have GW the first one and a couple of its expansions. I don't have enough money to buy GW2 right now nor the computer to handle the game, so it isn't a sensible buy. I've always been a Ghetto Gamer. I buy games from the bargain bin.

So I had the Opportunity to buy some new games thanks to Christmas. And I really really really wanted this game.

Let me put it to you in another way that you MIGHT be able to understand. (sad song starts) I have been unemployed for over a year, i ran out of unemployment 4 months into my unemployed stent. I am unemployable in my area, i am too educated and have too much experience for the jobs around here, ya sounds like a load of crap but this is what i have been told by employers, they dont think i would stay with the salaries they would offer me even with me saying yes i will i just need a job to pay my bills, i have even had employers tell me to not put all my education and job experience on my applications in the future so maybe that would help (WFT is that, yes they really told me this).

So what have i been doing, i have been working part time at jobs that i can find (fixing fence, welding, tutoring, computer work, hell i even learned how to crochet to make winter crap for the kids around here lo, driving a log truck when available and whatever else i can find to make some cash) and i have been cutting wood to sell this winter. I started cutting wood back in the summer even though i was hot as hell but i knew that this winter i would need it to pay the bills and i have been paying the bills, i actually have a nice penny put back from it because of this bad winter this year, even though propane just shot up to over 4.50 a gallon so now instead of 191 to fill up so i have heat its costing me over 450 for the same fuel a month ago and if you dont think that hurts when you dont have a steady 9 to 5 think again. So do you understand why i have NO sympathy for you AT ALL. The only reason you are where you are is because you choose to be. So to get back to my meaning is, with all that crap going on and having to scraqe for money to get by i was able to put back enough to be able to get the CE and hopefully they will offer some kind of pre paid sub discount rate so i can pay up 6 months or so ahead. Also just wanted to add that i get no assistance from the government, no food stamps nothing just to make that clear.

Something else i did was trim the fat, i cut out soda (ya seems little but a 12 back a couple times a week adds up fast) i cut out my Direct TV (saved 150 a month on that) and picked up a couple of roku boxs, so i still have tv just dont have to pay for it. Just saying there are so many ways to do things without trying to get people to feel sorry for you.

Thanks.

I only brought it up for some understanding. I am an explainer. I wasn't asking for sympathy when I brought it up. I brought it up for greater further explanation.

Your behavior of generalization, ergo bigotry (and yes, being bigoted against age groups is a thing and a bad thing) falls in line with similar venues of genocidal frames of mind.

I.E. Most terrorists come from the Middle East, so lets nuke it!

You're one hell of a bigoted [censored] and I would pay extra to make sure I never play with you again. You seem like a jaded person who can only listen to their own voice and the game is poorer for having you over a 12 year old.

I only read first page so sorry if this has been covered. If you don't have a job how do you survive? Who pays for your food, shelter, basic necessities? Parents? Gov't aide? Whatever is keeping you alive and well enough to pre order a 60 dollar game then you can afford to skip a meal or two to pay the subscription fee every month, assuming the game is awesome enough that you would want to.

Really subscription fees are only bad when you are a pre teen/teenager whos sole income is mommy/daddy's credit card and they don't want to give it up.

I'm an advlt. I'm 22 years old.

I'm on food stamps, that's how I eat.

And I'm staying with a relative, my aunt. After I lost my job. They don't provide me much of anything other than shelter. And have said, whatever is theirs is also mine. So I have shared posessions. I try hard not to take advantage of my aunt her husband.

Read my post above this and then get back to me about how bad you have it. your 22 years old, your old enough to get off you ass and find something even a convience store. The only reason you dont work is because you don't want to and you get food stamps so you don't need to.

I feel for you but i still wonder why you pre ordered a 60 dollar game if things are that bad. Simply put this isn't the game for you since it will definitively have subscription fees. Even if the game flops as bad as SWTOR it will still not go F2P any sooner then 1 year from now.

mow some lawns bro.

seriously, basically what I get out of this whole post is your unhappy with your situation in life and would to like to play the game. That's understandable, it probably happened to a lot of people. Still no reason to come on here and preach a base less accusation about the payment model of an online game and how its somehow ruining everything for you in life. There are plenty of free to play games out there, maybe you can join us in tamriel later. Plus, if things are that bad, what are you playing this on?

The subscription payment model was announced last August. We've known it was pay to play for quite a while. The only information that hasn't been announced yet is how much, if any, discounts will be offered for multiple months. http://help.elderscrollsonline.com/

Hope you will be able to find a game you enjoy.
