That Gun post patch upgrade

Post » Mon May 31, 2010 1:05 am

That Gun is a serious contender now. With the Cowboy perk and 100 guns I'm looking at 37 DAM with armor piercing rounds. As far as I know(I know far and wide) no other pistol can use armor piercing rounds, short of a few loads with small -DT features. I just killed two Deathclaws from medium distance before either of them could even get close.

The .308 JSP nerf is a bit frustrating but every gun that uses it is still really powerful, and This Machine has insane health anyway so whatever. Frag Grenades are also realistic now, 133 DAM with all Demolition Expert levels.

Loving the changes though! Haven't ran into any mishaps yet. Can finally go back to my Armored Vault 13 Suit and That Gun setup :hubbahubba:

Hope you guys don't have any problems with it or anything

IMO That Gun was awesome, and it is a bit too awesome as the most powerful 5.56, but I wouldn't complain.

It's ok, but I was really hoping for it to become a holdout weapon (along with the 12.7mm).

Wow I didn't realize those weren't holdout weapons...so only the weak pistols can be taken into casinos I guess

That Gun is now affected by the cowboy perk? I didn't read that in the 1.5 patch notes but it is better now imo. I never used it much before but now it's definitively the best and only revolver to use AP rounds. I played with it again since the patch and it now my favorite ghoul stopper.

Have you tried the 12.7mm SMG? It's a beast as well.

I'm quite a fan of "That Gun", mostly because of it's origins and partly because it's just plain awesome. The dev's got it from the movie "Blade Runner", in which Rick Deckard uses it to put down crazy awesome robots called "replicants". Pretty cool to see someone over there is a big BR nerd like me. :P

Yeah that got a great upgrade. Higher capacity and ridiculous damage, thing is a devastator. Think it got lower spread too.

I never watched Blade Runner, but I read the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? I guess it's cool how That Gun you can find at Novac was the one used by Deckard.

That Gun post-patch is some kind of awesome. I recently just did a quick hardcoe run-through.. Aside from the actual Dam battle 'That Gun' was pretty much all I used..

(Actually I found it a little lacking when House sent me to take out the BoS. As I didn't feel like letting them disarm me I decided to just steal one of their gauss/tri-beam lasers.. Unfortunately Boone got in the way of one of my sneak attempts on the turrets and got vapourised... Serves him right for being a fricken idiot...)

Have to try out the 12.7 smg again then. That piece is quite nasty albeit only at close range... a lower spread would be well, devastating :)

I just got to novac on my new character and since I'm rolling a cowboyish character I plan to make use of That Gun. If I'm truly impressed with it I'll probably have it be my main side-arm and replace my usual main-stay of a 44. Magnum. If only to conserve ammo since I also make heavy use of trail carbines.

I'm glad it got buffed though, I always felt it should of been more powerful then it originally was.

I liked before the patch and now like it even more with cowboy perk and max guns I prefer over both the Mysterious Magnum becuase of its fire rate 12.7 pistol becuase of 5.56 rounds being more common and when I dont mind going loud and the hunting revolver for same reasons as the 12.7

It's actually what got me to watch the movie lol. I had heard about it for a while, but reading about it and how it was based on the movie I had to see it. Very ahead of it's time.

That Gun looks like its about on par with the Mysterious Magnum against High DT enemies. But now with its higher base dmg it can really take advantage of its 2.5 crit multiplier.

What would be the explanation for a 5.56 revolver doing more dmg than a marksman carbine, assuming there was a functioning replica made.
