That infernal golden claw quest!

I hope I get to it early, so I can focus my efforts on making new discoveries.

But we haven't seen it. The press has. Not the public.

I know that's what I mean. If they show it at E3, or if it gets shown before the release it's not going to be that fun playing it in game (for me anyways). Now I don't claim to have knowledge that they will show it before release, but it does seem to be the demo they're sticking with.

[edit] Also, if I had known about the paintbrush quest before having played it myself I think it would have been less special. One of the things that I loved about that quest was that it was so random and it had no ties to anything else in the game, it was just there in the gameworld for you to stumble across.

I'll play however it feels right at the time, and if I end up doing that quest, cool, if not, just as well. :)

Hey, remember radiant AI and quests? Who says you will be betrayed for sure? Maybe he just hated Todd's toon. Maybe if he really likes you he wont betray you. Might be he will give you candy and gold! From what I understand you wont be getting identical quests, it'll prolly be in another cave with different random monsters on the outside and dragon encounters will mostly be random too.. so play away.

I just want a chance for us to see it now. Everyone in the game press and their mama has seen it, when is it our turn?

I'll go to bleak fall barrows BEFORE I get the quest and then return to golden claw to the shop owner, that should surprise him

Unless it was radiant story that sent them to bleak falls barrow...

What's funny is that we KNOW what will happen during the quest. The guy will betray us, so I'll be ready to kill him as soon as I let him down.

After the fourth or so time I read about this part of the quest, I started to wonder what would happen if you let him go. As such, I think I'm going to let him get away and trail him out of sight to see where he runs off to, if it's still in the game.

I was wondering the same thing. If we let him go then how do we open the door that leads to the word wall?

But he has the claw that unlocks the puzzle to the stone door leading to the word wall. Maybe if we let him get away we'll find that he opened the door himself and was killed by the dragon priest guarding the word wall? That way we'll have access through the door no matter what?

Ah... the Oblivion E3 demo. Possibly Bethesda's biggest lie ever. I hope they've learned from that.

That would make sense, I really have to remember not to kill that guy once I play the game

So one quest out of many has been spoiled, if it even exist in the game itself. But why would you ignore it, I don't get it.
Especially since there are different reports from this quest, so some parts will play out differently...

well that's a bit premature, seeing as we haven't seen the game yet. If what goes on in the demo, is actually in the game, I'd say they learned.

I forgot about the dragon outside too. It's possible that dragon would get him, and then it's a matter of snatching the claw from his corpse or from the ground without getting killed by the dragon.

Yea, that's true too. Seems like there's a few possibilities which is a great thing.

These rigid-structure demos always scare me. A lot of stuff is scripted or created to show off things that may or may not actually exist throughout the gameworld. For instance, they make a point of having fish jump out of the water in the pond at the beginning of this demo--we've seen no fish in the water of the screenshots or the trailer through. They might just be sprites which you can't interact with.

However, i hold out hope

Do you think if we decide to visit the dragon "statue" before entering Bleak Falls Barrow and pre-emptively shoot at it, it'll react? Oh, the possibilities.

As someone else suggested it's possible they use Radiant Story to choose the cave, so the dragon might not even exist until we get the quest.

It's just a demo. There's a good possibility that quest won't be in the final product.

Well, having seen Bethesda's E3 Fallout 3 demo, which pretty much consisted only of things that were actually in the game, I'd say, yes, all current evidence points towards yes.

I was being sarcastic.
