That SCAR

Post » Sun Mar 10, 2013 6:39 pm

Ok, firstly, big shout-out to the devs for working so hard to polish the multiplayer. You guys/girls are awesome, and I really appreciate all the effort! Crysis 3 is fantastic overall, and I can't wait to see what you have in store for the future!

That being said, the one complaint that I have that I actually felt the need to post about is the SCAR. It's just TOO good. It was THE gun to use in Crysis 2, which is understandable as our arsenal was not that large to begin with, however I don't want that to become the reality in Crysis 3 as well! There are too many diverse and interesting guns/play styles to try out, and I would hate to have that be taken away because the SCAR is TOO well rounded. I honestly feel like I'm at a disadvantage if I don't use it, which is a shame because I don't want to. I love the new selection of guns to choose from, but I hate that the SCAR has the perfect mix of damage, range, and accuracy to the point that it's almost a bad idea for you to NOT use it.

So I guess my plea is, for a SCAR that can live happily with the other weapons, not dominate like in Cry2. Knock that svcker down a few pegs, make him similar to the FY in that it's a good gun with practice, but not THE gun to use in any given situation. I know others have complained about this as well, so hopefully there'll be a nerf coming our way soon!

Cheers, thanks again, and please comment/post if you agree/love the SCAR/or think I'm crazy.

Stupid design is nerfing the gun. Buff the other guns and make them viable. No point using the grendel or takedown (80 rounds wtf?) when everyone can kill you with an automatic in half the time it takes for you to fire 4 shots.

Wouldn't you agree that buffing the other guns would make the gameplay (killing/being killed) almost twice as fast as it already is?

I see that as a negative...

Scar is trash in mid/long range. Grendel is great for multiple target situations and takedown is a great DMR. try using all the ARs and getting good with them before complaining about one. They all have a place

I have to disagree with you there. Slap a stabilizer and a laser sight onto the SCAR and you've got yourself a counter balance to just about any weapon except the DMR's and the bow.

I personally never have problems with it. Ive seen a few guys who think theyre hot **** running around with maneuverability armor transfer and laser+iron sights but i usually put them in their place with the takedown pretty easily

I cant really agree with you about the scar. Its good, but its not great. It definately has a place in the game. But no more nerfing or tweaking any weapon. I dont think there is anything wrong with any of the weapons available. Each one has its place, and i use 5 different loadouts and 3 specific modules for different maps and game types. This seems to work well for me, and thats what they are for. Personally i'd like to have 6-7 loadout options, but 5 is ok for now.

My point is if you are like me and die alot. Change your stratagy and not complain about the weapons. Because from what i am seeing and experiencing, i think the problem is not the weapons, but ping and time delay in the game. I find that when everyones ping is within 50, the game is alot smoother and kills/deaths are more equal. But when when there is a ping varience of 60 - 300+ then the game is not fun at all. You either kill alot or die alot, and makes no difference what weapon you use.

Agreed. The ping and subsequent delay is definitely a big problem, and I know exactly what you are talking about there. One of the most frustrating aspects of the game in my opinion actually...

I still stand by my claim that the gun is far too balanced, however I think a reduction in delay would do wonders for the overall experience.
