That was a bit TOO easy

Post » Sat Jun 12, 2010 1:01 pm

So I've heard a bit about the feared Radscorpion Queen and when I did the Wheel of Fortune quest in Camp Searchlight I ran into one of the two in the fire house

I was: "Oh, lovely!" when I saw her stats. 20 DT and 220-sih health. Then I went into V.A.T.S. with the Matter Modulator and shot her twice. Her health went from 220-ish to FIVE! Then I shot her one last time and she's dead.

Did I make some super critical or something, I mean what the hell?

Q-35 can dish out allot of damage on a critical hit. Not surprising really.

The Radscorpion queen is pretty easy to beat if you get a Sneak Critical on her.

Yeah but 200 HP in one shot with a gun that does 29 damage? I've had lesser creatures survive a sneak critical

The thing that makes the Radscorpion Queen so difficult is the fact you have to fight her indoors in a room barely big enough to house her. I had great difficulty trying to keep my team-mates and fellow scavvers alive. But then I didn't have prior knowledge, it's obviously gonna be easier when you know what to expect.

Brutal place to have an autosave, too. Desperately trying to get my gun unholstered while she takes out Boone in two hits... nasty.

Well my "prior knowledge" was not that much. I knew she was inside the building not just though the frikin' front door. And I have a tendency to have my weapon out and be in Sneak mode when going through any unfamiliar and/or hostile door.

Ah, see I was only expecting to find some feral ghouls inside so didn't take the necessary precautions. Of course, in the end keeping the scavvers alive is

Spoiler
barely necessary since they betray you anyway,

but when I did it I was determined to keep them all alive, took me a fair few tries.

I sympathise with your disappointment though, sneak hit crits have a way of bringing even the ugliest nasty down to size. The legendary deathclaw was rather anti-climactic for me for similar reasons.

The Q-35 dishes out +62 damage on a critical hit. Toss in better criticals and 3x bug stomper adding allot more damage to that critical and yeah, nothing wrong with what happened to you.
