No doubt the first time a random dragon popped up out of nowhere and landed right in front of me... almost fell out of my chair! Since then i turned down the volume a little bit though

Mine was quiet simple, I had just cleared a tower out for a bounty gained in the village just at the foot of the mountain the Greybeards are in, and as I was walking back to the village alongside a lake, a dragon shadow passed over the lake and it really made me jump, then the roar came and I looked up to see it gliding into a sweeping turn and head straight for me shouting Fire.

I was so much in awe I forgot to cast my healing spell as the flames hit me and I just keeled over and the reload page kicked in.

I posted my own topic about this but this seems like a good thread to add to. Here is my big "Wow" moment from the weekend:

So this was the moment I knew the game had me.

I was about 5 or 6 hours into the game and had already fought 3 or 4 dragons up until now. I was climbing the “7K Steps” which is quite a beautiful area with some nice views. As I neared the top I came across one of the plaques with someone reading it. Just as I was about to initiate a conversation a random dragon spawned in the distance and came crashing down on the steps.

All right I thought, we’ve done this before. With my newfound friend tanking for me I whipped out a one handed sword and a fire spell and went to work. When the dragon took off I looked to my left and noticed that there was a ledge that jutted out from the side of the mountain in a nice V shape. So I ran out onto the edge of the ledge, equipped a dual casting ranged spell and waited. As I made it to the ledge the sun started to set and I looked down on a beautiful view of half of Skyrim. It was such an amazing sight. I saw the dragon circling around and then it came in to hover just in front of me. So there we were facing each other on the edge of a cliff thousands of feet in the air hurling magic spells at each other next to the beautiful backdrop of a setting sun over the Skyrim landscape. When its health was almost depleted it crashed to the ground. I slowly walked up to it with my 1H sword of fire, slashed at its head and triggered a wicked kill animation. With the battle over the random NPC turned to me, and in a moment of pure Hollywood comedy, said “Watch out for wolves up ahead”……….

After I stopped laughing I reflected on what just happened. It was so perfect it couldn’t have been scripted. The fact that this was just a random dragon that spawned in this place, at this time of day and acted that way led to one of my favorite moments ever in video games. It made me think to myself, was I the only person in the world to experience this? Would these random sets of variables ever come together for any other person to recreate what I just experienced? It was a very humbling moment and a true testament to the greatness of this game.

A few hours later I would experience another set of variables in a dragon fight that made me yell “Holy F******” out loud at the beauty I was looking at but that’s a story for another day

The first time I was astonished was when I was trekking it out in the wilderness and I used the sprint ability. It flt cinematic and awesome seeing the head bob and hearing the panting and footsteps. There are times where a dragon will attack or land and it really feels HEAVY. I would have to say that I absolutely love fighting dragons I just wish there were more elemental types of dragons. Oh well, maybe some mods will fix that.

When I came to Windhelm, and a guard stopped me. A crime had been comitted, where a girl had been killed, and he asked me if I knew something. I saw the girl lying dead on the ground, with a couple of witnesses gathering around, and suddenly I found myself thrown into some sort of a horror film, where I had to investigate the crime scene, follow blood trails and so on. Very exiting!

Entering the cavern to see Eldergleam was my most recent wow, and boy was it amazing. Even Lydia was like "that's the most amazing thing I've ever seen".

My first "wow" moment was when I first left the starting scenario and was outside on the road, it was about 2am game time, the world was just unreal, I didn't expect it to look so good.

I've had a lot of wow moments in the last 3 days, and keep getting them. The hot springs and geyser area around the Eldergleam was great, really evocative of Yellowstone Park.

Ok, this game is truly incredible, I literally had a tear come to my eye in this situation. The double rainbow guy would probably have a mental breakdown if he saw what I saw.

I was walking to Riften and followed a river, I noticed a tower and went inside, it was an abandoned prison. After killing a few ghosts and looting the place I found a different exit out of there to what I had came in.

This was the moment - I emerged next to an amazing waterfall, crashing down onto the rocks below. The Aurora Borealis lit up the night sky, it was spectacular. I walked to the edge of where I was standing just outside the exit and saw the famous Khajitt standing there being cool as usual. This thread doesn't really do justice to what I saw, but believe me, if you had seen it you would feel the same.

Bethesda, you have made a masterpiece, I commend you for it.

This was all on 360 by the way, so our 6 year old hardware is quite capable of generating amazing scenes.

Fought two blood dragons at the same time, on top of a rocky bluff in the Reach. Just an awesome thing to experience.
