4GB Tuning for PC (Large Address Aware) ... this thing is supposed to be implemented with patch 1.4.

What does it mean and what does it do?

It means this game can finally use more than 2G of ram officially.

It means for some people they'll crash less. For others they can install more mods. For the rest the game just would run a lot smoother.
And for few maybe no difference at all.

I'm not familiar with the term Large Address Aware (I haven't checked out any of the threads on the subject yet, either), but it sounds a lot like they're upgrading Skyrim's RAM usage capacity from 2GB to 4GB.

Could be wrong, though.

It's hard to explain, it effectively allows the system to use more memory which in itself is not a fix unless the issue is running out of memory (which I really doubt is actually the case most of the time) The more likely issue is between 64-bit and 32-bit systems as Skyrim is 32-bit only it likely has memory issues speaking to 64-bit drivers/etc. It's common for 32-bit applications to fall-over horribly when run incorrectly on 64-bit machines because of the differences in the addressing schema which this should hopefully alleviate or remove for most PC players that are suffering from such issues.

large address aware means it will be aware of more than 2gb of ram, which is what the address is referring to. so, it just means exactly what you think it means.

Really? Mine always shows just above 900 000 mb in use. You're running it on mid-level detail?

Yeah ... if my system only uses just under 1 GB to run the game, I can't see how this would improve game performance. It could be helpful for super-HD texture mods and such, though.
