The 4th Era and the future of Tamriel and the TES series

Post » Sun Oct 09, 2011 6:54 pm

So the Empire is crumbling, the old dynasty has been taken over, Elsywer, Black Marsh, and maybe even Skyrim have all seceded from the empire. Morrowind has turned to [censored] and taken over by Black Marsh and it seems the Summerset Isles (Thalmor) have shown that they no longer serve any interest to the Empire and act as if no longer under its authority.

Where will we go from here?

Will Akavir or another foreign nation capitalize on the weakness of the Empire and invade?
Will the elves take control of White Gold Tower once again?
Will the now corrupt Empire manage to take over Tamriel under a authoritarian regime?

Or are the events of TES: V serve as a turning point?

What if we find out the Medes turn out to be just rulers? And slowly Tamriel rebuilds itself.
Another, just, human usurp of power?

Or what if for the next X years Tamriel is just in constant political chaos?

And where does TES: VI come into play in all of this?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
State your theories and preferences for TES: VI and the lore!
Personally, I would like to see TES: VI in Valenwood. For the lore? Hmmm.... Well maybe, if done right, have the Empire under an authoritarian regime (i dont have a preference on who is the ruler) and trying to get the other provinces back.
Btw, do you guys think I should add a poll?
I believe the dragons will cause a lot of damage and that Tamriel will go into a dark age.
I think this belongs http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/26-the-elder-scrolls-series-discussion/.
Interesting topic, I think we'll see the Elves and the Aldmeri dominion battle it out with the Empire next game, in a more political type war than prophecy war. I'd love to see TES:VI in Summerset
I'd love to see ES VI set in the Somerset Isles with the High Elves trying to take over again. There'd be a lot of history to play off of.
I won't speculate on what they will do, but I will speculate on what I want them to do.... They should expand the content, not increase graphics and intuitive gameplay. Morrowind did better than Oblivion, even though Oblivion was prettier.
For the next game they should include all of Tamriel. In order to do this, I say that they should keep the current graphics and engine, and just start building the content (Skyrim is already fleshed out). They should bring back more weaponry and other miscellaneous skills (if they were to take any more elements away, this game could almost be categorized as an Action/Adventure game instead of an rpg). They should also expand the leveling to 100+, so that the game also caters to higher level encounters with Epic Wzards, Ancient Necromancers, Daedric Princes, and other random encounters that test the strength of power-gamers. To allow leveling to 100+, they could include a long and involving side-quest that unlocks leveling beyond 100 for skills, adding some perks here and there. They should also keep the population of lower level enemies and spawns much higher than the stronger ones into higher levels (for realism sake). Having all of Tamriel available, would allow more room for dungeons and spread them out more realistically. I think that the next gen of platforms could handle that, but I would understand that the developers might have trouble handling it in a reasonable amount of time, when considering costs (even if they just start building the game with the current engine). For this reason, I realize that it is just a whimsical dream.
That is what I would want, but I do not expect them to actually do it.
First of all who said the empire was corrupt (seriously has that been confirmed) and second maybe argonions or kahjit will take over since both mer and men have ruled maybe its there turn.
And third I thought the thalmor took over valenwood and summerset isles.
Valenwood and Summerset are both members of the Aldmeri Dominion. The Thalmor are sorta kinda like the Blades of the AD. They want Alduin to win so that they can transcend the mortal plane in accordance to their religion.
Also the Medes took over the Empire, they CAN be corrupt or they may not.
Aso I think Black Marsh v. Empire wouldn't be that bad of a setting either. :)
