The 4th era

Post » Sat Apr 30, 2011 2:06 am

Last night I was on UESP when i found something that made me OMG. The 4th age begins when Martian and the Champion of Cyrodill defeat Mehrunes Dagon, Martian dies and the last of the of the Septim Bloodline, as we probably all know.
With-in years The Empire starts to collapse and Black Marsh followed by Elsweyr Break off, shortly after Titus Mead takes control by taking the imperial city with less than 1000 men and crowns himself Emperor. With Black Marsh Breaking off from Imperial governing they Invade Morrowind: "With the absence of Vivec, the Ministry of Truth becomes unstable. Vuhon creates an Ingenium in order to keep the rock stable by using first dozens of dying souls, then a small number of living ones as fuel. Sul fights Vuhon over his wife, who was being used as a living battery causing the Ministry of Truth to crash into Vvardenfell, destroying much of the island and killing many of the people. The Argonians of Black Marsh invade and conquer the crippled Dunmer." Then the Dunmer retreat to Solstheim.
A few other things happen and this might not be official lore but its made it onto the Time line. What do you guys think?

That information came from the novel The Infernal City written by Greg Keyes that came out in November of 2009. Bethesda has said that the info in the novel is canon. I believe the second part of the novel Lord of Souls is due out sometime around September.

Most people hate what has happened to Vvardenfal and Morrowiind but I actually like the aggresion of the Argonians and don't mind them giving the Dunmer what they had coming to them.

I don't understand why people say this. What exactly did the Dunmer do to deserve such a beating?

I'm sorry, but who is "Martian"? I didn't see any extraterrestrials in the game... But I guess you could somehow mistake an Imperial Soldier for http://sinkfullofdishes.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/marvin-the-martian.gif.

Just a little Argonian persecution and the general slave trade. Nothing too bad.

True. My love/loss of the Dunmer is clouding my judgment.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the Dunmer, I just like the idea that the Argonians got a taste of retribution for being enslaved.

Well, as I understand it, the argonians who invaded morrowind were mindless zombies, and it wasn't done out of retribution or expansionism. It may be that other, sentient argonians follow this initial wave of zombies, but I don't think we've gotten that far into the story yet.

Also it may be that these zombies are controlled by the rogue hist tree, in which case you could, in a roundabout way, credit the argonians for exacting revenge. But I believe its more likely that they are controlled by the city Umbriel, in which case the argies are just pawns. To be frank I didn't care for the book all that much (at all, really) so I'm not exactly sure of the details. But I am sure that we will need to read the next one in order to clear some things up.

The Argonians invaded morrowind right after the MoT fell, which is about 40 years before Umbriel does it thing. Also, the undead that follow umbriel are created by the moth things that Annaig saw in the beginning of the book.

The Argonians were under direction by the Hist, which is some form of powerful divine telepathy. I'm not sure if it was more giving them lucid instructions they had the option of following or a powerful form of mind control. It could lean more towards either of those things.

The living argonians that invaded morrowind, possibly. The ARgonians that basically waited to get killed by Umbriel, yes. But the undead (zombified versions of black marsh's inhabitents) that confront Attrebus and Sul are under Umbriel's control. Their created when the moth things inhabit a corpse who's soul has been devoured by Umbriel's little soul-cords.

Yes, the Dunmer were near obliterated by the Argonian Forces after the Oblivion Crisis.

In fact, I am basing my character's story heavily off of this; suggesting that there are some within the remaining Dunmer who live to fight against this 'subjective rule' of the Lizards.

Um..yeah....well that's not what I was talking about, though.

I was referring to a post about when the Argonians initially invaded Morrowind.

They're continuing their perpetual ideological war against Talos/The Empire/Humanity/Lorkhan/Nirn.

Their latest attempts to return to the Aether include assassination attempts on the emperor Titus Mede along with their usual metaphysical battles against Tiber Septim outside of time and space.

The assassination attempts of government officials are alluded to several times throughout the Infernal City novel.

The rest is from various lore sources on the Aldmeri Dominion and the Thalmor over at the Imperial Library. A quick search of either of those terms will reveal what is known about them. They've literally been at perpetual war with Tiber Septim since before he or they existed on Mundus. Strap yourself in because that's deep.

Dunmers deserved everything that was coming for them. Because of their slave trade, anti-Imperial crap and persecution of vampires. Yes, I hope the survivors who fled to Solstheim are devoured by Hircine's hounds when the next Bloodmoon arrives. That is all.
