[WIPz] The 500 Rads Bar - Thread #2

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:21 pm

Yes it would be spelled "das Vault" if "vault" is a proper noun. The correct german translation is "der Bunker". I am german speaking coming from Austria.

Man, there are 16 different ways to say "the" and another 16 to say "a" in German. Even Germans don't care/pay attention to closely.
All I need to know -vaguely- is; is it masculine in anyway shape or form (you'll be surprised), then it's "der", feminine then it's "die" (pronounced dee) and everything left over that's sixually confused is "das".
Anyone asks, I'm the ausl?nder wer Deutsches spricht... sort of...

Besides, everyone knows German is just a more uptight version of Dutch anyway :P
Or Dutch is the stoned version of German, that works too :D
case in point, we only have "de" for anything considered sixual, masculine or feminine, and "het" because there will always be the confused ones.

Acolyte is amazed. What is Bossman thinking?
Those peoples come to our island every freaking summer!
They're here right freaking now!!
Don't piss them off, we need the tourist income!!!

Gutentag :D Ich bin Gehilfe,
Kom nach Texel, wir haben ein sch?n Insel

And dutch is just a caveman form of Norwegian :P

So, on topic...what's the status of this mod at the moment? :)

White Reaver: Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not quite sure what you mean. Sell animals/robotic animals to customers?

Still in progress. Very busy lately, but school has just about finished, so I can get back into modding :)

Guten Tag :D Ich bin der (though technically I suppose "das" would be more appropriate, but I'm not sure bringing that subject up is wise) Gehilfe,
Kommen Sie nach Texel, wir haben eine sch?ne Insel.

Huh, you'd be surprised where you find those Germans. :stare:
I'm also leaning towards the second explanation, Dutch being the stoned version of German. At least that's what it sounds to me when I hear it.

Funny thing about Norway - they speak very good English there. Probably cos no-one else speaks the language and they got tired of confused looking tourists... :P

yeah blinzler... where you are noone would expect a german, but thats a good startegic position for the conquest of some new colonies... and the newly reestablished german empire needs some...

id agree on the dutch being a caveman form of norwegian whereas norwegian is what a shizophrenic german would speak if his other characters would be an english priest, a french chef, an italien policeman and polish kurwa... at least thats what it sounds to me :X
i like it nevertheless... someone who speaks dutch just cant have anything bad in mind... and their pannekoeken are great btw... oh that reminds me of poffertjies... mjam... i could kill for those...

This has kind of transformed into a discussion of the German language... :P

I must admit, I really don't feel like working on this at the moment. Working on another private modding project instead :P

Oh, I'm not canning the mod at all, just having a break. Although I announced voice acting far too early. You might be waiting a while :(

In Norway, the english is either above average or absolutely horrible :P I've heard some people try to say something in english, and it physically hurt my ears :P

Do what you want to do, I know all to well what it's like to take on something big and then get demorialized, so don't let that happen :)

Yes you do :P

Ever since I discovered mods for Morrowind, I have always known that Bethesda games...are PC games :) Now excuse me, I need to go sacrifice a small child to altar I made to hold my copy of Morrowind and it's expansions

Oh man...that probably is one of the things I like about Arabic. Gender stuff-we're solid. However, we do have about three or four words for the same thing.

EDIT: Although, different dialects of Arabic are harder to understand than different dialects of English.....

A log time ago, I promised interior pictures. Well, the Bar itself is finally finished (just need to add a little clutter). Here are the pictures, at long last. Note that these pictures are of the state in which you first find the bar - all gore and blood is removed when you hire a janitor.

I have 28 more pictures (covering another 8 rooms), but hosting them is sooo slow. I'll edit them in the good ones as we go. Any feedback gratefully accepted, as always. Now is as good a time as any to fix/improve the design :)

The first 3 quests are also complete :) A dialogue-based quest, a murder mystery/investigation, and a raid mission.

Wow, I made an account just to say how truly impressed I am by the sheer scale and amount of work that appears to have gone into this. I would love to help in any way I could, probably only through voice acting though. Again, hats off to you sir!

Thanks :)

I'm seriously considering removing voice acting almost entirely, though. Seems like a whole heap of work (what's with lip files and all) for relatively little gain. Opinions?

I'd rather have a good mod. I don't care about voice acting.

Voice acting isn't needed for a mod to be awesome. It can be a nice touch, but it can sound horrible as well.
I used a mod for Oblivion that added a huge castle and quests for it, with NPC interaction, with no voice files or lip movement. And it was a great fantastic mod.

Voice acting is nice, but so are cookies, but cookies aren't needed to get through the day.

Then again, voice-acting is a mark of quality, if done right. Very few can pull it off. I've already offered you my services as a lipper (lol'd), so yeah, you decide. :P

I'd say ditch voice acting for now. It can always be added in later as an optional d/l. Folks tend to be picky with voices anyhow.

You could at voice acting at a later date, couldn't you? I mean, it'd be possible to finish everything else, release it as a 1.0, and then add voice acting in a 2.0 version later on, wouldn't it?

Voice acting is unnecessary. I'd say release without it, and if you end up getting it done later, make an add-on pack for the mod.
