[WIPz] The 500 Rads Bar - Thread #2

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:32 pm

Ok, I'm getting more and more confused everytime I see you post, who is Acolyte? is it you in third-person or something?

but back on topic, this mod is looking good and I'm waiting with anticipation. One question though, where are you thinking of putting the location, roughly?

Don't worry, it's all me. Mostly me. Some of me. I'm in there somewhere, they promised!!!

Acolyte wishs you to understand that Old_andy suffers from post traumtic stress disorder, due to where he used to hang out on a saturday night and his reintergration in normal civilian society and you are witness to some of the more fragmeted portions of his mental state. Acolyte is referred to in third person, unless really drunk, and represents intelect, reasoning and the capability to deal with some of the other %$^&ed up $%^&* in his head.
A public service anouncment regarding Acolyte -haven't met Dame Edna yet, huh?

Acolyte hope she isn't coming to visit again, soon... She uses up all the good razors and doesn't clean out the shower drain... walks around naked through the house all day, scaring the dog..

The wonderful Evelyn Underwood wrote the intro to the edition of the one I referenced- and I forgot that she too wrote her own "Cloud". But, whoever, wherever it originates from... it fits here, and I am glad you took it as it was intended. :twirl:

Here is a picture of a robotic dog I created for this mod. It will be a guard you can have built for the 500 Rads Bar. At this time he will not be a companion. Just a sample of what is to come in the future.

Man, the dog looks great! Well done!

Just to clarify: if you decide to utilise a lot of robots, turrents and machines to defend the Bar, then a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bionics specialist will approach you and explain that nature and robots are perfect partners. Humans can take a design already nearly perfected by nature, and improve on it in any way we want to. If you agree to his offer to construct robotic animals to guard the Bar, then a mini quest line involving three stages per animal will begin. You will have to build each animal in order; once build it will join the ranks of your guards. The animals you will be able to make robotic copies of, in the order you build them, are:

1. Ant (with optional flamethrower attachment!)
2. Dog
3. Radscorpian (with optional size upgrade to Giant Radscorpian)
4. Yao Guai

There are three stages per mini-quest to aquire each robotic animal. These are research on the animal, building the body of the animal and programming the animal.

There is also the option to train certain creatures. These will be much weaker in general, but the quests will be easier. Some of the later trainable creatures can be very deadly!

1. Molerat.
2. Dog
3. Centaur (using mind control techniques)
4. Deathclaw (using mind control techniques).

These will just be a few interesting side quests which should be a little different from the rest of the mod. Because variety is the spice of life :)

School is killing me atm, I'm sure it is Attentater5 as well. In addition to that he is a taking a short break to work on the Caravan's revamped mod. I will remind him to update the main page with some more screenies.

Patience, children ;) I've been working on my other project recently, so haven't done all that much work on the bar :( It doesn't help that I've become hooked on Werewolf (a forum game playing in the Community Discussion board); been given heaps of awesome games (including Portal and Half Life 2); and made the A team in AFL (which is great, except that now I spend more time training. Despite all this, I have heaps of free time, and the only thing I can really blame for the lack of work I've done is that I'm having a break from it for a while. I'll get back into it hopefully on Monday, and I'll grab some screenies of the Bar's inside.

Take your time on the mod, don't rush anything just because the hordes of raving fans want you to :P I'd rather have this mod be the best you can make it than a rushed product. If you need support in any way, don't hesitate to ask, I've been doing a bit of GECK work lately, one of the mods is in my sig with a shop i made. Another tiny project using only vanilla resources is also in the works, just for a bit of GECK building training :)

Man, this is shaping up to look like better than any F3 DLC packs right now. Too bad I'm on 360... :cold:

Hey, since it's looking so good, maybe you can submit it to Bethesda as official DLC? Then us Xbox users would get it and that's another way for PS3 users to suffer!

Sadly, that's not really how things work. It would be awesome if it did, but, you know.

Also, I'm not sure if I've sad this before but this is some of the best, most cohesive work I've seen put forth into a mod since I'm going to say Lost Spire. Everything I've seen coming from you is great and I'm keenly awaiting the release (or maybe a beta  ). Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged! I can't hardly wait for the end product.

Stay gold ponyboy.

I'll second all of that, except Ponyboy...unless you like that sort of thing :hubbahubba:

And that reminds me, has your caravan mod been released yet or is it on hold? I kinda fell out of the loop on that one a while ago.

The caravan mod is still in the works and the 500 Rads bar will be going into beta soon, I think Attentater5 is just working out some kinks in between his hectic schedule. Thanks for the support guys, we really appreciate it.

From my calculations during the download lag, I estimate that Imageshack has recently moved their servers

..to Mars :(

Acolyte would love to go to Mars. The red colour suits him, and the Martians never make fun of the way he looks when they come to visit..
