The ability to charisma everything is an absolute must.

Tell that to all the raiders that have tried to shoot at me in the past games, no, they want to kill you and loot you, end of story.

Then there should also be chances of that dude being captured and ratting you out, and what are you gonna do then?

Trying to meassure Hitlers Charisma like that is dumb, and you place him at 9 because you want to win, considering what the man was capable of, I don't think you could just argue with him until he stopped, besides considering the amount of power he had and considering his way with words, I don't see anyone convincing him that he was wrong.

Charisma won't solve everything, I don't see myself being talked into crossing a minefield just because someone asked nicely and gave me puppy eyes. I'm not stupid.

If you can't see why Charisma can't solve everything, then I feel truly sorry for you.

The fact that people can be talked into blowing themselves up is of course a major problem in the real world at the moment....

although obviously it requires a lot more brainwashing than a few dialogue choices....

Charisma shouldn't be able to solve everything, but it should be able to get you through the game, part of the appeal of the old fallouts were that you could do things like that.

I remember when I first played deus ex... my initial impression of the various violent and non violent solutions to every problem was "cool, this is just like fallout"

If I want to talk, I'll make a date or meet up with a friend in real life. In Fallout, I want to shoot off NPC's limbs off and see how far they back from the goofy but charming ragdoll effects.

Agreed. Not everyone should be able to be charmed, even with 100 points in speech or barter. Granted, it's cool for a pacifist playthrough, there are just certain scenarios you can not charm or bargain your way out of.

I had a friend in real life who was gunned down during a robbery, just for trying to reason with the culprits. Not everyone is trying to spend a long time talking and listening. Especially if they already have a determined agenda on their mind beforehand.

If you were in a real difficult situation, like manipulating the Psycho addled hittler-Raider, you could still make it through the dialogue. You wouldn't have a single speech check that convinces him that you're not worth raiding, and maybe the route of convincing him of the moral injustice of the caravaneer holocaust won't work; but you would be able to use charisma to get him to delay his actions or do them in a different way. If the character is absolutely determined to do something, then maybe it might genuinely be impossible to get him/her/it to do a 180, but that doesn't mean you can't talk your way into a more favourable outcome. Not to mention that you could have a fair go of convincing a lieutenant or a wife or a suplier to do the convincing you can't.

Let's not forget that most comunication isn't down to words. Mere body language and appearance can get you what you want. If you have high charisma (or look gorgeous) , people are more likely to listen to you in the first place

And THIS is why most political rivalries end in bloodshed. Executed of course by someone else (with 9 Str, 9 Per, 9 Agi) who is heavily influenced by the 10 Charm, Manipulative maniac because "he can't have blood on his hands."
