The Adventures of Tintin Part 1: The Secret of the Unicorn

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 12:21 am

Produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Spielberg (and written by the brilliant Steven Moffat), the first of three movies based off of the graphic novel series "The Adventures of Tintin", by Herge, has released its first trailer, which is viewable here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddiKjC_4BOo

For those who don't know the series, here's the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Tintin for it.

So what do you think of the trailer? It looks pretty nice but seems to be deviating quite a bit from the book. I don't have a problem with that if they can still pull off a good story.

Watched a bit too much of Tin Tin and I'm not getting used to this new voice. I don't mind his hairstyle but that those eyebrows..... Tin Tin looks so CG in that.

He really does, much more so than anything else in the video seemed to.

It did look a bit weird. Hopefully it was just a bad shot.

I don't like the look of Tintin, but the rest looks awesome. Never seen the animated stuff, but I love the original comic albums ^_^

I've got some faith in those at the helm, though Spielberg veers too much towards mindless action in my recent memory. If they can infuse some of the whimsy, intelligence, and mystery of the books into the movie, I'd be pleased. It appears to be going in the other direction than the animated series did (the latter was even lighter fare) but that's not inherently bad. I'll definitely keep it on my radar screen - after all, Tintin was my favorite character from French language comics all through school... The others (Babar, Astérix et Obélix, etc) are distant seconds.

Cool, that is all my childhood !!! "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "The Treasure of Rackham the Red" are some of the best Tintin books. I would have preferred "The 7 Crystal Balls" and "The Temple of the Sun".

That is rumored to be the second movie.

Always loved the comics, but the trailer fails due to lacking a cursing Captain Haddock.

I thought it was known as 'Red Rackham's Treasure', no?

Peronally prefer the moon ones, tbh. THEY MUST MAKE THEM!!!
