The amount of voice talent in Skyrim?

I seem to remember someone mentioning on this forum recently that the game devs have been playing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Let's hope they learnt from Troika's example. If there was ever a game that got voice acting absolutely perfect it's that one.

I really hope they have at least five different people for each race. Who can all alter their voices to suit different people within the game. I know it's asking a lot, but the main problem for me wasn't so much the number of voice actors they had, it was that they used the same tones and the exact same voices for all elves, male and female, and the did the same for argonians and khajiit, and for female bretons, and male nords and orcs. The only unique voices were that of Nord Females and make bretons. So I hope, at the very least, they spread em out and use more varied speech patterns.

I failed to even recognize Patrick Stewart's voice when I first played the game. It didn't add any depth for me.

You're not supposed to notice. It's supposed to be well integrated into the story, not a fourth wall breaker. They wanted someone with Shakesperean training who could properly convey the feeling of an old man knowing his day is nigh.

so... 9 races x 2 genders = 18 voice actors for the races, with seannanners bean, and pats stewie. that makes 20 voice actors for Oblivion. and I have absolutely no clue if there were more in Fallout 3 although it felt much less apparent than Oblivion, but the voices were obviously very recycled nonetheless. But Todd Howard said in a podcast that the devs recognized that they needed more voice actors, due to criticism on the matter, and they hired a lot more voice talent this time. I think it was 40+ voice actors but I can't be sure, I'll have to look back on the GI coverage and dig up what I can.

That wasn't my point at all. Did you even read the rest of my post? It was just an example I gave to convey my feelings over Skyrim having famous voice actors. As long as they can find talent that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to be in the game, that'd be ok by me.

Since Skyrim isn't shipping with an expansion pack, I'm not counting SI.
