The Answer To The Release Date

Post » Sat Nov 21, 2009 2:04 pm

So I've heard lots of members ask this question several times.
Why has the game been delayed twice?

Other then polishing, de-bugging, and enhancing the game in whatever ways possible, there is another answer to consider.
In a business point of view, if Brink is released now, it will not stand a chance out there in the gaming world. Speak to the average gamer,
"what game would you choose out of the two, Call of duty or Brink." Straight away the answer is evident, Call of Duty. Between now and spring next year,
A grade games are being constantly released. You got Black Ops, Reach, Playstation Move, KIllzone, Resistance and many many more.
So when everyone is sick of Black Ops, bang! Release Brink the quiet season. Something fresh, something new.

And then, that's when you start raking in the sales.

The product isn't finished. Getting the graphics and sound there to show in a video is different than actually playing it. Diablo 3 is years away and there are plenty of videos and content for it. I don't know why developers don't share their projections with everyone. Video games don't have movie budgets so I guess they can't make four hour commentary discs every time.

There is always the unknown. in my opinion SD is taking somewhat of a risk by delaying the game till spring, you still have the off chance that one of the other IP's may be delayed and pose that competition that they are trying to avoid. After the Christmas rush you are gonna have ppl who are tapped out on cash til God knows when. Also take a look at the possibility that you have some ppl who are gonna still be into whatever other titles they decide to to pick up prior to that. Whatever the outcome, I wish Brink the best of luck and they can rest assured that they have my support.

Even if it is being delayed primarily for business purposes, that just gives them more time to polish it. And when they're finally done polishing, and it's finally released, they will make more money due to it being better, and we'll all have more people to play with online. The way I see it, it's a win-win.

I just hope that Brink will draw less from the Call of Duty/Halo crowd and more from the... well... anything else crowd.

most i've heard that know a bit about brink said they'd buy brink first, if it came out at around the same time.
but, they were the smart ones that knew every cod is just the same...

ehh, i see what you mean about it etting swallowed up, but i could care less about COD or Killzone or any of that. I think its all just for polishing purposes, and getting weapons balance right, but im not sure its gonna turn out so well if they dont have a beta

There is an open topic already - a little way back but let's go with it rather than starting another.
