The ANSWER to why Crytek stopped Crysis 2 support (inside)

If it wasn't obvious enough when Crytek officially stated that 1.9 will be the last patch because they said pretty much said "they beat the cheaters", let this news be REAL confirmation for you.

Crysis is officially coming to consoles...so they're definitely dedicated to working on that. They've abandoned Crysis 2 and is now focusing on this port...which will most likely run at lowest settings due to how the Crysis environment is set up.

Its so sad how they just gave up on trying to prevent the mass cheating, the performance decrease on 1.9 patch, and fixing day 0 bugs like orbital lag. Crytek is dead to me....they died the day Crysis 2 was released.

So if you had or still have any hope of Crytek fixing this game. You should really just accept it. This game, how it is now, is how its always going to be (if not worse) due to easily growing amount of cheaters.

Okay bye, this game is enough thats all i can say, bugs yes, performance decease? What did you expect its a Crysis title? I can live with a little shenanigans once in a while, this game would be a 10 on a grades scale,....... so what i just give it a 9. Which is still a highly playable game.

Meh, I think you are taking that way too out of context. All that crytek ever said was they were happy with their anti-cheat measures and never said anything about 1.9 being a final patch. Also they have been working on this Crysis 1 port for over 4 years. if they were moving exclusively to console all this time, then why even bother with the direct X 11 upate.

I hope there is nothing wrong with your brain. Crytek did announce that they were not going to release any more patches which means 1.9 is final although it's not stated like that. They have already been working on DX11 before Crysis 2 was even released, supported by NVIDIA's sponsoring deal with Crytek. EA probably couldn't stop crying and Crytek figured they'd just release the game to stop EA's *****ing then release a DX11 patch when it was done later.

I do agree you can't fight the hackers forever, but what I don't like is that as of current news, they are abandoning the game virtually altogether . Unless they are planning some sort of big-ass performance patch.

Look at Steam's TF2 for example. That game came out, like, 4-5 years ago, and yet Valve have constantly patched and improved the game. To be a good developer who cares about customer satisfaction, they need to really estabalish a strong post-launch service. In other words, as long as there are consumers getting Crysis 2 on the PC (it's dirt cheap now!), IMHO Crytek (or EA, whoever funds these things) should continue tweaking and improving their games like Valve does.
