The Anti-Flame Fallout Series Pro and Con Discussion

Pretty much my opinions here.

Well... Yeah?
Liking something is about opinion isn't it?

But the settlement in FO3 were awful when compared to how they were in NV.
But even NV had it's funky moments with it, like Novac, I want... Novac... Gone...

At first time is surprising

Later is more repetitive considering that they are encrypted events

Really? You mean my computer isn't making things up by itself? I find that hard to believe.

Also, I forgot to mention that the invisible wall around the F3 map is annoying but not quite as annoying as F:NVs internal ones.

I've played Fallout 1 and am a few hours into Fallout 2. I've also read a lot of Fallout lore over at the wiki. Based on that I am unable to comprehend why some people believe Fallout 3 isn't a Fallout-game. I certainly think it fits the bill. I love Fallout 3. I've also gotten quite far in New Vegas, and even though I think it's a really good game, I prefer Fallout 3. The reason is that those games are so similar in looks and gameplay that playing New Vegas feels a bit like playing a Fallout 3 DLC or mod. Nothing is new, I've seen it all before. Thus it will never have the same impact on me as Fallout 3 did, where everything was new and unseen.

Why? It just a temporary settlement to plunder the Repconn Test Site. Atleast it has justification being there. Well, so has Girdershade, it being Ronald wanting to "plow Sierra's beanfiled" and not wanting competition... :P

I dont see how Fallout 3 can fit yet

Wrong ambient
Poor writing
Most of the quest is about "shoot-to-kill"
Most towns dont make sense
Forced to join the BOS
Forced to destroy the Enclave
Broken Steel, who only worsened the really awful original ending, by removing it
The only 2 good things in that games was the sandbox, and Point Lookout

Care to elaborate???

Did no one find that Fallout3 had far more tactical play that much better than the first two Fallouts, did no one find the the quests were far deeper than the first two fallouts, far bigger, many possible endings, more diverse.

Or if you haven't played many, try them out.

Did no one get bored of the emptyness of the early Fallouts 1 and 2 where I could walk for an hour and not find anything.

Might want to take your own advice there and try the originals out. You could walk for an hour and not find anything? Bit of a tip-off.

It's personal opinion. I don't think the quests were poorly written, I don't think the ambient was wrong, I don't see the problem of being forced to join the BOS and destroy the Enclave (although it would of course have been cool to have a choice here) and I overall think it was a great game that fit the atmosphere of the Falloutverse perfectly. But that's just a matter of opinion, either way.

No one, that's just how i figured it after Manny Vargas said that it's the only way the town keeps living. Once it has been picked clean there's nothing to keep them fed.

Fallout is all about choice and the story, so thats the issue.

But that's a matter of opinion too. I could say that Fallout's all about the post-apocalyptic setting, for instance. Or maybe I might argue that it's defined by gameplay mechanics (I wouldn't, but I could). The point is, your idea of 'what Fallout is all about' may well differ from someone else's. It's subjective, at least to an extent.

Maybe nobody came to those conclusion because it's very wrong. All of that's not true.

@tabris: fallout has alays been based around how your player chooses to deal with the story and that is shown everywhere in the originals bit fallout 3 is so shallow that pretty much everything in the main quest is straight forward and stupid.

All we know is that it relies solely on junk and scavenging of Repcon test area(Which is overrun with ghouls/night-kin), and a brahmin farmer(Whos herd is thinning). I know what you mean. Still gotta like that dinosaur though.

For it's irritating though.
I see a town that has to get supplied somehow and they get so by selling junk from repconn to caravans going from Outpost to Vegas.
Okay, fine, it's workable.
But.... It's been 204 years... How come there even is [censored] left to scavenge/prospect at Repconn?
It's the same logic as with FO3 for me.
And who scavenges it?
The only person I see who "used to" scav it was Smexy Gibson, and she just sits on her old bony ass on her repconn sign part all day.
So who scavenges it?
No one.
If no one scavs it then they can't get stuff to sell to NCR caravans passing through.
They can't sell stuff to them then they have no money or food.
If that happens then the town lowers in prosperity.
And soon enough vanishes.
So Obsidian really needs to put some generic novac settlers who goes there from time to time after we've cleared out the ghouls who actually "work".
And the population as far as I've seen is: 1 crazy man, 2 mercs, 1 doctor, 1 motel manager, 1 general store clerk, 2 snipers, 1 exRanger, 1 lady who'd be perfect for Anthony, 1 lady who just stares at the sky and misses the time she flew a helicopter, 1 brahmin herder + 1 wife.
Do any of these actually scav Repconn?

I'm just annoyed at Novac. <_<

no way dude, fallout is all about what gabriel, mako, and others, say it is, and f*&^ you for saying otherwise!

see the way the world works is that people that liked the original of anything get to tell everyone else what that thing is all about, and everyone else just has to listen. and if you think you're allowed to have your opinion, you're "not a true fan".

so take that.

Way to be an example of how immature some TES fans can be, because almost none of the Dinosaurs are that hostile, but you did bring up one thing that was true, Fallout 1 represents what Fallout "is all about", those who haven't played it are entitled to their opinion, but they cant say that Fallout "is all about" aspects that originated in FO3, that were otherwise derived from Oblivion, thank you for being an object example.
