The auto save is numbered?

Quick question. Im an old xbox player and the only time i has a numbered save was when id did it manually. Otherwise it would have 3 autosaves that wouldnt ne numbered and would constantly overrite themselves
On pc everytime i fast travel/enter a building it saves with a numbered save. Is the auto tag just for consoles ?
What do some of you do.

About what?

Aurosaves are numbered and are backed up each time a new one is created. List of autosaves in my current game:

- autosave2.ess

- autosave1.ess

- autosave3.ess

- autosave2.ess.bak

- autosave1.ess.bak

- autosave3.ess.bak

and so on up to three backups. Quicksaves are also backedup in order to avoid overwriting.

If i go into load game it appears that autosaves look identical to manual saves? My worry is that after a few restarts i have saves numbered in the 100's . For example new playthrough
Save new character manual save #103
It then starts autosaving so it wuickly jumps into 110 after entering/exiting dungeons/fast traveling
Is this normal?

Xbox it was
103
Auto
Auto
Auto
Then overrite the first auto, etc
104 was when i manually saved

Yes, on PC the numbers keep going up, whenever you save over an older file. On the other hand, the old file, along with its number, gets removed. So there will be gaps in the numbering sequence.
