[RELz] The Ayleids Steps 3

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 11:13 am

Okay. Keep me informed please. smile.gif
By the way, I'd advise you to keep your load order as it was (ordered with BOSS, I hope) when you started the game. Use OBMM to export the load order and reload it on installing newer mod versions, etc., you know the drill. toughninja.gif

Will do. I found a new lost dungeon while trying to ease with the frustration. Nice one on top of that. I found
Spoiler
a fish called Omar in it :D

Ok, I think I have it working. So here's what I did

1. I added the paper to my inventory since the ref wouldn't get enabled.
2. I used the two setstage commands of your previous post
3. I dropped the paper from my inventory
4. I had the quest popup.
5. I went to
Spoiler
Skingrad and into the inn. After a few steps my character was stopped and I saw a character walk past me. I had a new quest update saying that it might have been Calindil. I spoke to the tender and asked about the man who just left, then about the mage. I went to his room and found the body. I first had a quest update when I approach the body. I had another update when I read the torn piece of paper beneath the table. Just after I left the inn (as suggested in another quest update) I had a new quest update pop-up saying that I should visit Calindil's place.
That's where I am so far.

Does it seem that something's screwed up?

edit: spelling...

Good news. I was able to finish Murder Masquerade and the follow-up quest. Now I just need to wait for the next one to come.

Is it a good idea to load up this mod with a new character or wait until I have gotten to around level 20 or so?

There's no problem with having the mod already in. It blends so well in the game world you have no idea it's there :)

Hey Ervvyn, could you look into something? I was mapping the road for Cheydinhall in Mapping Mayhem, and I've reproduced a bug 6 times out of 6. Here are the steps I used:

Spoiler
in the Imperial Palace, the 3rd on the left. It transports me to the Imperial Tower (the prison). I use the step on which I arrived and I'm sent to Sideways Cave. Here is the problem: Jannus is spawned below when I'm up and he could not join me. I had to use the moveto player console command. After that the stepping is smooth, as I arrive in Cheydinhall's castle. Did you have another itinerary in mind for this one?

I knew of that, i.e. I have seen that happen 1 time. I thought it was just bad luck. OK, I'll redirect that route to somewhere else then. Thank you. :)

File update http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16316:
CHANGELOG release 3.0.1
---------------------------------------------
* Changed a StepstoneScript to avoid a nasty problem in the Mapping Mayhem quest.
* Added Cobl's alchemy sorter to the Talos bridge tower hideout.
* Removed Ayleid arrows from leveled loot lists in the Lost Dungeons.
* Fixed several small (Lost) dungeon layout problems.

If you already had 3.0, just download the 3.0.1.Esp-only and put the .esp in your Data folder overwriting the old one.

Sorry if this has been covered before, but...

I finished talking with Calindil and closed out "Murder Masquerade". He told me to check out a poster in the street. I left his shoppe to do so. This is what I found:

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn303/Decrepit_Waste/ESIV%20Oblivion/AyleidStepsMesh.jpg.

I saw two of these (but did not look for others), this one and another at the opposite end of the Market District.

Oh, I am running version 3.0 with the 3.0.1 esp added.

Is this a known issue?

(I'll revert to the save just prior to talking with Calindil for now.)

Thanks in advance!

Argh, my bad. :embarrass: I tested a new mesh & texture for that item and forgot to reset it before releasing the file. Will upload a new .esp ASAP.

* Edit: done. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16316 available at TesNexus.

* Edit 2: Good grief! Found even more items pointing to nonexistent meshes. Fortunately you will not encounter these before the end of the very last quest. My apologies. Expect another update to version 3.0.3 tomorrow.

Thanks for the updated esp! I skipped 3.0.2 and went directly from 3.0.1 to this. "WTF...!" stars are gone. :twirl: All's well in the Imperial City. I completed Daring Dumner and look forward to whatever comes next.

I wish I was sometimes. Machines don't get angry at themselves or embarrassed or tired ... someone pointed out another missing mesh bug today. :stare: Again, you will not encounter it before you complete the entire questline, but it needs a file update no matter what. So a version 3.0.4 will emerge in the near future. Maybe I'll thrown in a new Lost Dungeon to compensate for the fuss. :(

Thanks for all the work you have put into this huge undertaking, and your continued efforts at expanding, polishing, and bug stomping.

And yes.........a new lost dungeon will always be appreciated by this fan. :)

Hey Ervvyn, I have a suggestion if possible. The spell to recharge the purple welkin could use some tweaking/buffing: I'm a master of alteration and the spell costs 7 mana points. It doesn't take long to recharge it, but what about an expert/master spell that would allow the player to recharge the whole stone with one spell? It could take 50 mana points (or more). I just find it a bit weird that a master of alteration cannot recharge it with one spell.

/ot: are you a Stargate fan? I wonder, because
Spoiler
the Ayleids are quite like the Ancients/Ori: they evolved to a "higher plane of existence" and are pure energy and collect this energy with the stones

I'll think about it, thank you.
Does this imply you found that purple thing in Vanuasecul in the 9th-10th quest? Seen anything weird or buggy in the quests so far?

No, never watched (?) it. It's a movie or series, right? :embarrass: I don't like television. At all. I'll google around a bit though.

Yep I have. I can't say that I have found something weird. I seem to recall something bad
Spoiler
in the tunnels leading to Fefandor. IIRC there were some wall texture missing, like you could see the tunnel as if you had typed TCL in the console. I'll go back there if I can
. Also I'm

the Guardian since yesterday... I have to collect some undead souls to charge up the core. I also have to find Ingred to give her the letter.

As far as Stargate is concerned, yes it's a series. Funny you didn't see it, I thought that was a good reference :D
