The Bards Tale - Please return us to Skara Brae

Post » Sat May 09, 2009 1:35 am

Dear gamesas

Please please bring the original Bard's Tale to the Nintendo DS.

There is a growing market for this sort of 'old school rpg' type game on the hand held consoles.

The Bard's Tale was a pure delight with many hours of my life spent roaming the streets and dungeons of Skara Brae and I would love to once again relive it.

I'm sure it would once again be a success and appeal to a broad range of Nintendo DS users, even including the older amongst us.

Thank you for listening.

Inxiles attempt at modernising the Bard's Tale series led only to disappointment for many fans of the original series.

I believe gamesas and Electronic Arts still share the rights for the Bard's Tale Series although I could be wrong. ( gamesas the original code and Electronic Arts the name).

This does not mean that the original series could not be re-released on the Nintendo Ds - it may just need a bit of communication between both organisations (something that is sadly lacking in this day and age).

What gaming companies seem to be doing wrong these days is forgetting the past and focusing on the future. A game such as the original Bard's Tale would be a hit on a hand held console such as the Nintendo S. Look at Atlus's attempts at producing old school type RPG's. It attracts a niche audience and a big one at that.

Anyway, thats my copper piece. If you don't ask, you don't often get.

Though I agree the past can definitely make for a good guide in life the future on the other hand must be focused on for any company or else even the precious Bard's Tale in its day would not have surfaced. :P Video games are starting to become similar, especially with the FPS counterpart in almost every game it seems now. Thus this does not account that they should stop looking forward. Possibly sit down and look where they are going, but never always just look into the past, or they may trip even harder. Image
I told the Overseer of Vault 13 I'd give everything to save everyone, and so I did, I saved them all. Since then I've felt loneliness.
