The best gear in the game will be loot dropped, not crafted.

Yeah because it's that difficult to read between the lines of what was said.

This unique dropped only items can only be found by drops, not crafting.

Now logically, for anyone who has ever played any mmo, do these "unique" drop only items usually have a lower quality or similar quality to crafted items?

In almost every single loot-system of an mmo these kinds of unique only-found by rare drops items have been the "Go to /best" items in the game

If they are simply unique/different, and are not the "best" that's great, but for most of us who have been through this kind of thing with countless other mmo's, it's the writing ont he wall that leads me to think these rare loot-only items will be the "best" end-game items which you will need a crafter to imrprove upon (but can't actually craft said item int he first place).

Thus the best top of the line gear will be tied to these drops, like about any other mmo out there.

I do hope I am wrong, and the unique drops are just unique/different but not necessarily "better" then legendary crafted items not built from the unique drop-only ehchantmented items.

It would seem not. Going from the report video on the Set Bonuses.

Let's make it simpler.

Best items: Grind end game PvE drops with unique(un-learnable) enchantments and pass those to a leveled smith/woodworker/tailor(*) to improve them to Legendary tier.

*henceforth referred to as Improvers

So you as a crafter would be totally fine not creating the best gear, but rather improving loot found through grinding pve content (ala WoW)? If so, hey, cool for you! I guarantee you a lot of crafters are going to be pissed if this is what I think it is.

Improving goes through the Crafting skill, that's what he's saying. Further more, that means that best gear - Legendary - is still acquired through Crafting as improving falls under that category.

So this gear that drops in "end game". As a though.... will the base stats be as good as a Crafted item? This may affect whether the said item is the best; even when taken into account the " quality " of the unique enchantment. just a thought; as I have no idea as of yet.

True, but I can't imagine un-learnable chance based end games drops with no set bonuses - being worse than always available learned traits/crafting stations.

Yeah, except that's not what I asked. O.o? are people just trolling now? YES, I understand that crafting INCLUDES improving, but we're talking about two very different things. One, the crafter is able to create the best gear from scratch, and the other, the crafter is just a improvement [censored] that relies on pve grinding for the actual drops. I don't know how else to say it...

You can not "acquire" these items with the unique enchantments through crafting, they are only found from drops as he says.

Rather than getting caught up in semantics I think what Zenimax has done is left the door open for 'raid gear' (via unique enchantments) after release.

Yeah but it's pleb work. Doesn't draw on the countless hours spent gathering mats and researching stuff, and finding the spots to create set items etc. All of which is real crafter work.

Zapping a found item with a few hoarded or bought upgrade items could be done by anyone who powerlevelled their crafting through all the tiers once they reached L50.

Wouldn't that just require a few skillpoints set aside?

Bit of a blow to the actual crafters anyway.

Yes but it's already been said that there will be enchantments crafters cannot learn...

That's a bit of a reach and there should be more for dedicated crafters.

The best gear is acquired through hunting the items down in PvE and passing them onto any leveled crafter so they can click a menu screen a few times to level your item up. Glorified improvers basically.

Eeexactly.

crafted sets are just as good as dropped sets, it all depends on what bonuses you want.

Seems like ZOS made a good compromise in my opinion but I see a problem depending on pve for the best gear. It would be nice to give dedicated pvp players a way out of the pve grind, especially if we end up with weeklies and dailiys to grind out for gear :yuck: . Maybe we will see what has been done in past mmos like this where pvp gear could be acquired through a pvp commendations vendor.

What if there are encantments not available in drops? Just because it is unique, it does not mean it is better.

Alternate enchants for alternate builds, if a build you want to try requires the enchants found there then cool, if not then they are useless really...

Of course I could be wrong and these enchants could be epic, but until the game goes live and we see for ourselves it is all rumors..

A crafter through the improvement feature can eventually take an item they created and improve it to Legendary. Obviously more involved in the process but seems simple to me.
