Miniguns, cos anything that spits out an awsome amount of lead wins always, just gimme some high explosive shells and I'll show you a good time, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAU8 Although it is technically a rotary cannon and not a minigun...but meh

Should you get close enough. I can run faster than you and shotguns are infamous for short ranges to begin with.

Don't you know thats what my minigun is for?

But with every gun there is a drawback:
Miniguns - inaccurate past meduim range
Nade lauchers- have to arc the shot a bit and you'll be reloading a lot
SMG-inaccurate, small damage with a high ROF
AR- medium ROF, more damage than a SMG but not as strong as a minigun
Light Rifle- Strong but one is a bolt action and the other is semi auto, also both have a longer reload based on old pictures of stats

The guns are pretty much balanced so there shouldn't be a gun that is best all around.

Indeed, I'm just playing around. (intended by the OP) :P

As for the Miniguns, I do think the damage also falls off at a certain range as well as the spray being wider.
After all my time playing and modding TF2 I really picked up off of these things.

Pretty much why my answer is grenades. All bullets do is cause damage and eventually incap someone. Grenades down them right then and there, which opens up a lot of opportunity. Not to mention than bullets won't arc over obstacles or bounce off around corners.

The question is about best weapon, which limits us to the guns, grenades, knife... I can't think of anything else. Maybe turrets, in which case, I might say those are better than grenades.

From what Ive been told/read, Grenades do smaller amounts of damage and rather KD for a period of time, they do not put you down completely.

H0RSE's hooves will be the best weapon in Brink, the only OHK in the game but you have to be H0RSE to get them

Incorrect nadse aren't used for killing they are a support weapon not a killing weapon. thats what your weapon(your gun) is for. its says so in the newest interview with the writer of Brink.

Best weapon.... hmmm I think it's that one gun.... yeah you know that one! The one that kills all those people and shoots those bullets.

Joking aside the best weapon is your opinion you can't really say whats the best... at least not until the game comes out. :hubbahubba:

The game isn't even out yet. How can we even tell? We don't even know all the guns. Also

As long as Brink didn't follow the Activision-Blizzard route of hiring mentally defective goldfish to handle weapon balance, there should be no 'best weapon'.

That's my point. It may not kill, but grenades are still weapons, they are still tools for combat. I guess it comes down to opinion, but which is more important? The tool that sets everything up, or the tool that finishes them off? For me, it's the grenade that makes sure I get that half-second advantage over a high-value enemy. No, I'm not going to grenade every guy I try to kill.

Not to mention, if Brink were focused on killing people, I bet they would have included Team Deathmatch. ;)

They said that the guns you unlock in the higher levels won't actually be any better, just have unique stats to suit some strange Play styles.

Like being able to mow down a hallway full of enemies with an auto-shotty or minigun?

Because that is my playstyle.

Still, you can have the drum attachment but once that runs out, you are going to have to reload and players who were paying attention will flank/attack you then.

That is why I pay attention to my ammo and retreat behind my lines to reload + I am a defensive player so I am not going to be running around like a headless chicken.

Then you and I can be friends. I'm glad you know that more ammo doesn't mean more power!

Having a longer spray time doesn't make you rambo, and can lead to you dying due to the fact you weren't keeping an eye on your ammo and every time you respawn you do it again(this in not directed at you, just something that annoys me) Therefore becoming nothing but a Hindenburg(aka a disaster) to your team

There usually isn't a "best" anything unless it's personal. I prefer semi-auto rifles that are accurate and have some power. But it just depends on the weapons.
