The Big Bad Gang Thread

Post » Mon Oct 04, 2010 10:36 pm

So out in the Mojave there are some crazy and colourful gangs out there and which one did you enjoy learning, killing or dealing with the most? How do you feel about the current positions of each gang and who do you feel you could relate most to and who would you like to see more of?
I personally liked all of the New Vegas Gangs, I could really believe that some would actually come around in a real wasteland (The Fiends because they would be the people to take advantage of the situation and the Boomers because how many of you would rush to the nearest Army/Airfield?)
So discuss your thoughts on them all. :tops:
(I am talking about all the real gangs out there not the major factions)
Just updated poll

In FO3? None, they weren't fleshed out enough.
In New Vegas? The Kings probably, was nice with a gang that weren't all about drugs and ho's.
And yes, all fodder gangs should have been fleshed out more. Hate that they are even in the game if all they're gonna be is hostile.

oh, c'mon now. Talon Company had a brilliant side story that just fit right into the main story seamlessly... without them, fallout 3 would have just been fallout 3 minus amazingness.....

just kidding....bet you were foaming at the mouth in rage over that one, hehe... ;)

in all seriousness though, I'd say Powder Gangers for NV, and nothing for F3, they were pathetic and if I forced myself to say one, I'd probably get hated on by mass crowds of F3 haters, which is completely understandable. I chose powder gangers because as weak as they are they're a great source early in the game for items/weapons. unless your siding with them, and even in that case it's still rewarding....

Kind of sad the Vipers and Jackals were reduced to near-random nuisance enemies along the main highways. The Vipers killed Elder Maxson shortly after FO1, probably what brought on their near-extinction and exile into Nevada by the WCBOS.

Khans, kings and boomers are best.
Powder gangers felt uselss. NCRF, vault 19 and a few minor places... And one mission is to wipe out goodsprings. Like I said, useless.

Khans I liked, enough to get the vault 19 prisoners to join and strengthen them, as they left the Mojave.

The khans are more a nation than a gang. While not exactly lovable fuzzies, they do have some redeeming qualities.

Tunnel Sneak doesn't really exist beyond tutorial.......

And Boomers are more of a tribal (with howitzers) than a Gang.

Fiends, why you ask?
Just to be oddly balanced.

Motor Runner, has dogs, a throne and a chainsaw.
Violet has dogs and must be a founding member of the Mojave Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Driver Nephi is into golf and anti establishment fellings.
Cook Cook likes cattle and cooking ( roast beef ).

The fiends are typical chem and alchohol abusers.
Common vandals, ne'er do wells and happy slappers.
It's obvious it's the first british faction ever in Fallout.
As a brit I say it's my duty to support them.

As to Jackals and Vypers, yes they should have had more of a place in game.

Well, redeeming is relative. They have a stable society and a code of honor (While so does the Legion, they are not imperialistic and do not take and hold slaves) and their code extends to outside groups with whom they are willing to deal as equals. They appear to have gender equality. They are seem to have a belief in a higher power (although I may be projecting.) They are entrepreneurial.

And I too, for some reason I can't quite limn, like them, too.

I dont know iif they belive in anything, may just be jack who is into the Karma thing, but they are drug dealers, which really shold make me hate them, then again in the wasteland I could look past that considering there are worse things. Also the legion has a religion too, they belive Caeser is the son of Mars...
But yeah no idea why but at first I was just like "yay non hostile group" then I just thought "I want to help these guys be the best they can" then at my end game they had an empire, that was awesome.

Tunnel snakes are still a gang and so I included them.
Tribal is just a fancy word for gang.
On a side note here is the inspiration forhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBeT4ptY9sY (powder ganger quest)
