The biggest problem I have with the game

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 3:53 am

I have to disagree to an extent.

My friend and I both are around level 25. I am not new to the Fallout series so I have experience with managing supplies. I have a ton of food/ammo/junk that I've accumulated, but that's because I knew what I was doing. My friend however is new to the Fallout games. He barely has any ammo or aid to support himself on missions.

I remember when I first played Fallout 3. I was just like him but I adapted and now it's never a problem for me.

Rebuild with what exactly? There is no industry of any kind that we know of on the East Coast other that the Pitt.

The only rebuilding that you would realistically see in the Commonwealth is exactly what we do see which is people making settlements/cities out of ruins and pieces of things.

I use a loot overhaul mod which makes important loot (ammo, cores, stimpacs etc.) much rarer and it's a nice addition to immersion. At level 50 I have 30 stimpacs and 20 bobby pins and 6 fusion cores for example. I have to buy ammo a lot. At the start it's sometimes really hard to have enough stuff. I like it.

Perhaps lootables should scale in rarity at higher difficulties?

Mods do fix this but they really shouldn't have to for such a big titlen

Bethesda has to please many different needs. Making loot so rare as I would like it for example would harrass a lot of players who like more loot and less worrying. That's what mods are for, to make a game fit for individual wishes. A great strength and advantage of Bethesda's games. It's only since the arrival of the consoles that mods are not the solution anymore. But it's the fault of the player on what platform he/she plays.

While it is true that players that want a more challenging experience could "omg" choose to not fast travel or loot everything. Bethesda could also take a closer look at the more popular mods(that did just that) and scale the base game accordingly.

Oh and by the way consoles have been around since the start of this whole "gaming thing" and are way more popular.

Best to just let that be.

Fallout, despite its post apocalyptic nature, has never been about harsh, realistic survival in a desolate world. It's mostly been about facing the dangers of the waste to fulfil a duty, either to yourself or someone else. The 200 years thing is clearly intentionally hand waved to facilitate a richer, more adventure driven tone.
