The birth of Auto Armor

Post » Sun Jun 23, 2013 6:17 pm

When Crytek came up with the idea to have a 'Marquee' weapon, and to give this weapon these abilities:

OHK
Shoot cloaked
Auto Aim
Guided arrows
Jump shoot no spread
Zoom without FOV loss

After realizing the beast they had created, they quickly went to work on the 'anti-bow'..

And here it is... say hello to the Bows evil twin.. Auto Armor.

I still feel the bow could have been the elite skill weapon like C2's DSGr was, if they had given it more agressive ballistic trajectory/travel time.

sad sad.

Travel time is mis-understood as adding skill when infact it does the opposite and adds luck.

Unless your opponent is walking in the same direction at the same speed constantly You are essentially relying on the fact that you're opponent will move into your bullets/arrows.

DOES HE EVEN RAILGUN

@Omega, in all seriousness I don't see what would be the point when something like Gauss exists. It's essentially a Bow on hitscan mode, except you actually have to aim.
I classify Bow under the same category as L-Tag, a weapon with extremely clunky mechanics that essentially makes it impossible to balance because it sways wildly between "pointless" to "OP'd as hell", there is no middle ground.

If it was a crossbow with zero draw-time (you fire > next arrow reloads and draws itself ready to fire) and you could shoot from stealth, then there'd probably be a way to balance it since it would be similar to Gauss. Shooting from stealth would be balanced out by the weapon having a lengthy gap between shots and the arrows having trajectory/travel time. As it stands the bow is just too unique.
