The Black Hand

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 8:11 pm

The Black Hand in Oblivion was an interesting addition in my opinion. It svcked you had to kill off the The Dark Brotherhood, and get fooled into killing off some of the members of the Black Hand. But do you think it will show up somewhere, or sometime in Skyrim? Perhaps if there is a Dark Brotherhood, will it still have the Black Hand banners hanging up? Will they still address everything to Sithis?

Looking for some opinions, thoughts, and ideas on whether or not you think you'll see the Black Hand sometime in Skyrim, whether its a banner, in text, or a quest.

The Dark Brotherhood itself is already confirmed to be ingame. The only guild to be, in fact. Don't ask for a quote, but I believe I read it. Other people could back me up I guess.

Regarding the Black Hand... well, I am no DB lore expert, but I believe each province has a Black Hand...? Or was the one in Oblivion a central organization? My belief is that there is one, which administrates the guild on every province. But I can't really say for sure

EDIT: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dark_Brotherhood#Organization you have a lore article on the organization of the Dark Brotherhood ;)

It doesn't actually refer if there are several Black Hands throughout Tamriel. However, if we rise up in ranks in the faction, I doubt that we won't become at least a Finger/Speaker, or even talk with one.

I didn't know they were confirmed? Is it possible you could post a link to how you found it? I would much appreciate it. :P

Well, now that I think of it, I am not exactly sure if it was downright confirmed. It was at least "hinted", but that was a while ago, maybe there were another news until now.

Anyway, the hint is http://www.vg247.com/2011/02/07/dark-brotherhood-hinted-for-skyrim-by-bethesda/ , for example.

I don't really know how the different provinces handled the Dark Brotherhood, but I'm not sure if the one in Morrowind had a Black Hand, nor did we hear anything about it in High Rock/Hammerfell for Daggerfall. It might be like the Gray Fox, he was only relevant to the Cyrodiil Thieves Guild, as all Thieves Guilds act independently.

Personally, I'd say leave the Black Hand out of it and go with a slightly different take on the Dark Brotherhood. A lot of untapped potential there, and there's more to them than the "generic evil Satan-worshiping cult" vibe so many seemed to get from them. I'd say prove those people wrong and force the deeper aspects of them to the surface.

It will be there, there's always a need for assassins; and the black hand is more then willing to supply them..

Whether you can join them is another question all together, but I have my hopes up.

Edit: Obviously I was assuming that TBD being there warrants the existance of TBH aswell. If you can join TBD, you will not be able to join TBH though. But since they're essentially the same organization (TBH just being higher up) joining one, counts as joining the other.
