the bloodskal blade.....useless?

Also, it doesn't need recharging. It would be way too good if the enchantment was super powerful.

It's fun, and useful on Adept, even Expert. It's not amazingly strong, but it's really fun.

If you stop using it as a long ranged attack, and use it as a sword whose power attacks cut through groups of enemies, especially with the side swipe power attack, you'll see it's not useless.

this. it's a sword so the enchantments effects are obviously better during close combat.

Well... you can increase the damage... fortifiy restoration alchemy potions increases the effect of enchants (Just take a potion, reequip the blade, and as long as you never unequip it the boost will stay).
does this work? Ill try that

Edit: it doesnt work

As a matter of interest, what enchantment is better than a 30 knockback? Soul trap is pretty useful, but ordinary elemental damage is pretty weak and paralysis doesn't proc enough.

It should work, it works fine in the enchanting-alchemy-restoration exploit. Unless the Bloodskal is realy special.

I just tried it. That exploit appears to only with armor enchants. Not weapons.

Well the enchant doesn't need to be recharged, so saying its useless is pointless.

Its the hitting things further away that needs to be stronger.

If you want to do high damage at range, try magic or archery.

Gotta say I agree with this, the sword is just something nice they through in that's kind of fun. If you want ranged damage play a range char. The energy blast is a bonus nothing more.

I have to say i'm kind of agreeing with the OP. But i'm not really in need of it. I just think it would be cool to have this awesome sword which can do a ranged energy blast that does a lot of damage. But I use it in the way ColonelKillaBee said so it's ok. I see that my wishes for this sword would be kind of pointless and I know they'll never come true. Im just sayin.

Other that looking cool

Ding ding ding! If I wanted to one-shot all the baddies, I could do that easily enough. But more often than not, I like to use weaker gear to challenge myself and have some fun.

In a way I can see the OP's point but I mean... it's a sword... despite it's power a sword is not made for long range combat plain and simple. You can argue that the enchantment needs to be stronger to be effective against enemies far away and I'll just say... it's a sword... not a bow. I've actually hit a power attack on a bandit and shot the guy back a few feet... it was funny cause his head slammed into a wall and that actually killed him.

IMO, all unique weapons in skyrim should be hard to get and better than any smithable item. including tempering

While I think the sword is fine, you have a point. If I can smith my own legendary awesome weapon better than the unique ones, it's kinda counter productive to adventuring and exploring. I still explore in Skyrim, but it'd be a lot more fun doing so knowing that I could find a rare and powerful weapon that I cannot obtain by other means.

Its the long range atk im talking about. It only does 30 damage... On master, thats nothing. I just would of liked to be able to disenchant it.
O
I understand where you're coming from. This is my complaint as well. I disagree with the disenchanting part, however. I'd rather Bethesda make upgrading the Bloodskal Blade similar to upgrading the Ebony Blade. For example, they could make it so that you have to perform a certain action to increase the damage of the enchantment on the blade. And for those of you who are suggesting switching to magic or archery, I disagree. If you're going to make a blade that can do long range damage, you should make it viable. There is no valid point in making a sword with an enchantment that doesn't help. I do use this sword, but for the reason that the "Getsuga Tenshou" (as people seem to like calling it) ragdolls the enemy after they are dealt a deathblow, which I find satisfying.

For those who say its a sword, its long range power should matter then i ask you, why not make the power 0? Why make i at all? Because it looks cool? Very well
I understand way of thinking however, if it is only meant to look cool, or was never intended to be a long range atk, then getting it any damage at all would be pointless, and doing because it only looks cool makes useless in combat. Which brings back to my original statement. It is useless. Honestly, id like them to make the enchant progressive. Something like, " does damage equal to 25 or 50% users stamina" which would make it so only warriors with high stamina could make use of it. Also it would lvl with the player anf still be useful in later levels, even on master.

At MAXIMUM, I can smith the blade to do 49 damage. Do I have some kind of bug, or what? This is with potions and fortify smithing armor.

At 81, 49 damage doesn't really cut it.

youre doing it wrong. Ive seen weapons with atks in the billions...... True god weapons. They make the game boring though. I really only like weapons around 150 to 200 on master. The bloodskals getsuga doing about that much would be cool i think.
