the bloodskal blade.....useless?

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 8:28 am

While I think the sword is fine, you have a point. If I can smith my own legendary awesome weapon better than the unique ones, it's kinda counter productive to adventuring and exploring. I still explore in Skyrim, but it'd be a lot more fun doing so knowing that I could find a rare and powerful weapon that I cannot obtain by other means.
However, then most everyone would be using the same gear, and that's no fun to talk about :>

To those who continue to refer to smithing it. You are missing the point. Yes you cam smith it to whatever damage. But the enchant is forever at 30 damage. The blade maybe at 100, 200, or 300 damage and as a greatswotd thats good. But ANY great sword can hit that high. The point of the bloodskal blade is its enchant which only does 30. The long range atk is only, and forever will be 30. You cannot increase the enchants damage, the long range damage. This makes the bloodskalblade a good hitting sword with a useless lightshow of an enchant, thus useless. If we could disenchajt it, the enchant could be placed on another weaponand improved. I understand putting it on 1h swords maybe a bit broken, faster swings and all, but they could make it a 2h only enchant for balance. Or they could add gear that increased the enchants damage. Something. Anything, just increase the damage. Disenchanting is prefered.
30 in enchant damage is pretty close to maximum even for an master enchanter unless you have the destruction perks who increase damage.
In skyrim enchant damage is weaker than weapon damage, in Oblivion is was the other way around.

That weapon is my favorite 2H in the game. It's a 30 damage enchantment....just like any other. You are a Warrior that fights up close and personal.

If you want a more powerful ranged attack...use a Bow.

I feel sorry for you, Setsuna. A lot of the people on this thread don't seem to get it. Or choose not to. It would be nice to disenchant it although it does look awesome in its own right... don't even get me started on the augment destruction enchant.... Grrr...

Most of us get it, we just don't agree. There's a difference.

Why give a sword a ranged attack that doesn't make a dent on higher difficulties? Saying "switch to a bow" doesn't make sense, the sword is special in that it is clearly meant to be used at range. But why limit the special to low level play on lower difficulties?

Yep, I think we all see that it would be cool to have greater damage on an enchant with knockback, and we all see the attraction of being able to put that enchant on any weapon. But it seems to me that this would be overpowered ... and the absence of those things doesn't make the Bloodskal blade a bad weapon: it's a pretty good weapon.

Well, imagine how op it'd be to get it with, say 60 damage at a low level? I still think it works fine. If you use it as a close quarters weapon, it is immensely useful in big crowds and one on one fights. Imagine a greatsword that has a fire damage effect, but the power attacks shoot fire from the blade, only thirty, but still, and the fire effect never goes away! Sick. Even moreso if you combine it with the sideways swipe attack. The sword would be better if it was enchantable as well, but it's not bad as it is. Not great, but not bad. Oh, and hi Fujikawa! :wavey:

Still, I wish I could enchant it with drain stamina. Imagine the greatness of THAT! ERMAHGERD!

I do agree the enchantment should be higher, and at low levels, getting to that sword is pretty difficult.

What's not to get? It does an extra 30 damage. It's a sword. It's not a laser gun.

Feel sorry for the right reasons.

..and block me also.

GETSUGA TENSHOU IS obviously stronger than a normal slash from a sword, i think thats the point that the op is tryin to say. I kinda agree with him since normally a sword cant do long range magic damage. and if it can, then it obviously should be stronger than a normal slash because why would you add in a long range attack for a sword when the damage is weaker than a normal slash? so to all the people the said play magic for long range, i think shooting stuff out of your sword sounds way cooler than that.

The enchant should be stronger or at least have a boosting effect in addition. I know what you mean though it's a shame the energy it realeses doesn't have much use for someone wanting to build off of that idea for a character. *like say a certain shinigami*

But I'll just have to wait to buy the dlc for my pc version aswell so I can fix that little detail.

I think it would be reasonable to make the both the base damage on the weapon and its enchant leveled. That would solve everything. Just make it a leveled weapon.

If a sword gets a viable long-range combat mode, my bow should get a blade so it's viable at close range!

No, the thirty damage is the enchantment, not his base damage.

It's a free, no need to be charge, cherry on top kind of effect. Plus a cool looking one. If your bashing at a group of enemies, its going to do good crowd control. I think it's pretty good.

It's a 30 dmg built-in knockback ability that never needs recharged. If you want range, use a bow/crossbow/magic. The sword is fine as is.
