the bloodskal blade.....useless?

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 10:13 am

You cant disenchant it and only 30 dmg make it weak past lvl 25. Other that looking cool, what use is it? On master you might as well be hitting them with a bag of declawed kittens..... Think it could be changed? Maybe changing it to something like, "fires an energy blast which does damage equal to 25% the users stamina." That way it would level with player.... The sword is too cool to only do 30dmg.

its skyrim
everyone hyper forges their weaps to god mode
makes no sense to call any weap useless when you can turn an iron dagger into a dragon killer with a few potion and enchantment boosts

Not for nothing but.... Black smithing, 2 hand perks and 2 hand damage increase mods on gear can make any 2 hand weapon do crazy damage.

So no, it doesn't do 30 damage. It just does 30 damage on your character.

On my two hand barb, even an simple iron great sword can do well over 270 damage when smithed and im geared up...And im not even that tricked out.

Perhaps i wasnt clear. I was refering to its enchants damage. Which stays at 30. The blade, like any other 2h sword can be smithed to whatever damage you like butthe enchant stays at 30 and at higher levels 30 dmg is nothing, which makes the enchant, and the sword uneless. If the enchant is useless, then thats just a sword you can smith that has a light show. They should of let us disenchant it. Modders are going to anyways..

It's enchantment isn't amazing, but it's fun and the blade itself is awesome.

Besides, doesn't the blade do ranged attacks when power-attacking? That sounds pretty crazy to me. I'm not on xbox however so I might be wrong, but that's what I've heard here on the forums...

Its the long range atk im talking about. It only does 30 damage... On master, thats nothing. I just would of liked to be able to disenchant it.

I agree, it would be a cool effect to add to other weapons. At it stands though its just a novelty. Its cool until you realize its only good for Pi**ing enemies in the distance. This would be an awesome effect on a better weapon with a stronger enchantment level though

I'm glad you can't disenchant it. It should be unique.

I mean, it's neat... but it's just wall art after a while. It's too weak.

All you have to do is smith it a bit and it's a unique greatsword with 200 damage including a 30 point knock-back. Doesn't have to be weak.

I love this blade honestly but then again I play on adept and my two-handed perk and smithing are maxed at 100 so it does more damage for me.

Not sure about you, but I made a point to get this sword on my 2H Berserker and it is a BLAST. Put the difficulty down low and I went on a massacre today for fun. Cleaved down an innocent old broad and the arc slash (omg link's sword beam) fired off and killed another pedestrian. I love the way this blade works.

You can upgrade it to whatever damage you like and apart from modders it has a purpose, theoretically it can give 2h sword wielders a range option against dragons or enemies they cannot reach ( if you dont like switching weapons).

Btw anyone else think the WAY this sword does the energy 'slash' is similar to Severance: Blade of Darkness ( special sword requires stamina to use the 'spec' )?

To those who continue to refer to smithing it. You are missing the point. Yes you cam smith it to whatever damage. But the enchant is forever at 30 damage. The blade maybe at 100, 200, or 300 damage and as a greatswotd thats good. But ANY great sword can hit that high. The point of the bloodskal blade is its enchant which only does 30. The long range atk is only, and forever will be 30. You cannot increase the enchants damage, the long range damage. This makes the bloodskalblade a good hitting sword with a useless lightshow of an enchant, thus useless. If we could disenchajt it, the enchant could be placed on another weaponand improved. I understand putting it on 1h swords maybe a bit broken, faster swings and all, but they could make it a 2h only enchant for balance. Or they could add gear that increased the enchants damage. Something. Anything, just increase the damage. Disenchanting is prefered.

It's a unique sword that shouldn't be able to be disenchanted. When your weapon is already doing 300 damage, what's the point of having a super powerful enchantment…

Well... you can increase the damage... fortifiy restoration alchemy potions increases the effect of enchants (Just take a potion, reequip the blade, and as long as you never unequip it the boost will stay).

If you stop using it as a long ranged attack, and use it as a sword whose power attacks cut through groups of enemies, especially with the side swipe power attack, you'll see it's not useless.

on adept it does fair damage to mid level opponents, and will kill lower level bandits. Granted at level 50+ you aren't killing elder dragons with it, but it is a +30 damage to the weapon that never needs to be recharged

Might find it more effective on adept difficulty, the game is more balanced for it
