The BLOOM Problem

Post » Fri Jan 09, 2009 2:29 am

So I am trying to play Crysis 2 (& thanks for turning your backs on your PC gamers Crytek: high, very high, and extreme graphic settings and that's it? Not cool) and the bloom is flickering ALL OVER the place to where I can't play this game and enjoy it.

I tried changing the .exe file in Prgram Files(x86)/Electronic Arts/Crysis 2 Limited Edition/bin32/Crysis2

and changing the Crysis2 file (an .exe application) to rift.exe with no success.

I have an Alienware M17x R2 with dual mobile AMD 4870s.

Any suggestions?

You have an essential paperweight. The game is giving flashing epilepsy issues to anybody running a multi-gpu setup on both AMD/ATI and Nvidia.

You can always return it for false advertising, and if they ask, cite DX11 support confirmed by Nathan Camarillo which the game doesn't have. When they fix the flickering, you can re-purchase it for cheaper.

Right now though, your copy is useless.

Ya I'm definitely not thrilled. I have a digital copy otherwise I would try to return this paperweight. Until then I want to see if I can alter the files to get what I paid for in the first place.

I believe mine is a CF too. I'm not sure how to disable it to where I just have 1 GPU running. Also doesn't the ALT+ENTER just take it out of fullscreen? I'll try it but I'd rather wait since playing out of fullscreen is really annoying.

I take it back: the fix I suggested at the top does work. I wasn't clicking the .exe file after I had renamed it. Duh...

Still, it would be nice to get a game that worked out of the box

you cant report a false advert claim. there is nothing on the box that states DX11, in fact there is nothing on the box that even states DX10. it just asks that you have a DX9 capable gpu. You cant make false advert claim based on someones word.

Wow. The Forums work way better than the game.
I am another person with the Bloom problem. Nothing I've read about so far fixes this problem. The only thing that works is putting the game in a window which basically puts it on 1 out of my 4 GPUs. Apparently the programmers forgot to put in the DirectX11 and 64-bit support. I am putting all the blame on EA though. Every game they put their little grubby hands on gets destroyed. They even managed to destroy NFL video games. They can't beat the competition with a better NFL game so they buy out the rights so no one can make one.
