The Boneyard...

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:06 am

Holy [censored]..

I was going through the wiki, just for the sake of expanding my fallout knowlege (I know pathetic "Go play the originals" someone might say :P ) and I came across the L.A. Boneyard.

Screw D.C. Bethesda should have done the Boneyard. This isn't one of those "where would you like the next Fallout to be" topics, I'm just expressing feels and such and starting a conversation ( :P ). It says it appears in Fallout 1, now the beginning of Fallout 1 pissed me off, mainly because I didn't know how to play or anything, plus that was like six years ago. Now I want to play Fallout, just for the Boneyard. But my damn computer keeps making the game filled with multi-colored pixels and such and it is hard to play (Anger. :flame: ).

Anyways, how cool is the Boneyard, for anyone who remembers Fallout 1. Seems completely badass, IMO. I'm just trying to picture it now, with all of its 3D glory and with a new graphics engine... :ahhh:

Yeah I'll admit. Seeing the Boneyard in 3d would be cool...

But Bethesda wanted to do a new location and new area (I'm glad they did DC)

(by the way to get rid of the multicolored weirdness on my computer on Fallout 1, I usually have to set the theme to be "windows 98 classic" and keep the "screen resolution" window open)

By now I'm certain the Boneyard would be fairly civilized since it's situated deep in NCR territory.

I'm glad they did D.C. too, its really cool. But had I know/played Fallout 1 more before FO3, Boneyard would be a #1 priority in my book.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to try it out now. Edit: Doesn't work :( Says I need High res patch, since I'm on Windows 7.

What about Frank Horrigan making an appearance?;)

As for locales, I wouldn't mind seeing San Francisco get the 3D makeover.:)

I really liked the Boneyard. It's where the FOTA and the Gun Runners are from. The details on the civilization there are unclear in the current timeline, we know New Adytum is a fully fledged settlement, but is the rest of the city settled?

For the multi colour thing, try this:
1. Go to C:/Program/Black Isle/Fallout
2. Double click the Fallout.exe file and start the game.
3. Always do this when you start the game.

I always get multicolour when I try to use a deskop/start shortcut to start the game.
But whenever I use the original .exe file the colour starts working properly again.

Or left click on the desktop and click screen resolution and keep that window up. Simpler.

You can fix the colour problem with http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42811. Plus, you can change the resolution with it.

Sometimes it doesn't work at all and other times you have to restart the game a couple of times before it works.

The Boneyard was cool with the Cathedral and all.

Yes Play FO1. The "atmosphere" is alot better then FO3. Its what I have been saying for along time. Boneyard is a great example.

Pretty cool. I liked the intro. And I just got out of Vault 13, the travel system was hard to get used to but I figured it out. Right now I'm in Shady Sands.

Love the Bloody Mess perk :D

Edit: I died.

I think you can buy one back at Shady Sands, I think uhm... Ian or someone in the building where Ian is has a role for sale. ( The building to the right of the entrance.)

There is rope in shady sands. If you go to the
Spoiler
glow
rope will also be handy.

On that note, bring a lot of

Sweet, thanks!

What I do is that I go to Vault 15, raid that top floor of stuff, go to Shady Sands and trade with the guy by the gate for a rope. Since in the beginning of the game, you are really short on caps and can't even afford a rope, but those flares you find are really good payment for that rope. Down on the lowest level you will also find the 10mm SMG, and it's really an awesome low level weapon, love the death animations of it in full auto.

Oh, and btw, on the topic. I'd like to see Fallout 1 in a 3D version, then nothing should be missing, no characters, locations, dialogues, perks. I think a modding team would do it best, but it would take a long time. I think there's one in development but it's taking its sweet time. :P
