The Boomers and biofuel

Post » Tue Jul 09, 2013 8:03 am

This is a little series of questions, more so relating to the bio-fuel, but anyways. We know the boomers make bio-fuel/bio-diesel from growing maize, and I was wondering about a few things that also relate to real life.

1. How much bio-fuel would be needed to fuel the B-29, and, on average, how much fuel does each plant (assuming corn/maize) create?

2. If the Boomers are able to make bio-fuel, and if someone could get a hold of a few working cars, do you think it would be possible to see more vehicles, or does that idea seem not possible?

3. How exactly does one make bio-fuel anyway? Is it possible to run a vehicle in real life on just bio-fuel?

Cars in Fallout ran on nuclear power........ so bio-fuel wouldn't work in a car whose engine is nuclear based.

Bio Fuel is a replacement for Diesel, which is a compression based and not an ignition based fuel. Plane engines use a fuel that has high volatility (gasoline), in other words fumes, to operate. So, they would have to change out fuel delivery, and possibly compression ratios to make the Bio Fuel work.

A B-29 can carry about 9500 gallons of fuel, burning through 400 to 500 gallons an hour in operation.
