Thanks for that link. I closed my eyes and listened and I think I heard Boone in there too. I really don't understand why James Marsden hasn't gotten more attention for this part in FNV. He was important to X-Men as Cyclops and he had a big part in Hairspray (which completely showed his range) and now I'm wondering about the Fallout credits for the other actor on the Wikia and if it was always James in the earlier Fallouts.

Thank you Talonfire...wish we had seen that thread. :D Then it's Jason Marsden voicing Boone and the credits at the end of the game are listing it wrong. That's a shame. I've been spending a lot of time with that voice and wanted to know for sure who it was. Jason should get his props for a great job. I was finding videos of Jason's family and stuff and learned more about him so that's great. He's done Fallout voices before too.

And let me throw in another "I don't think Boone is overrated" while I'm here. :D

I just completed Boone's quest, I Forgot to Remember to Forget, and wow...........I now feel a moral obligation to take Boone along with me for the rest of the game. I'm 30 hours in and I still have not tried the other companions but I love Boone's story and think that fighting the Legion with him at my side makes the battles more satisfying. He is a very strong fighter and sometimes I do get a bit annoyed at his tendency to kill enemies before I can even unholster my gun, however, he's not the best at close quarters so there is a downside to using him.

I've had a couple of days to think about what you said here and instead of avoiding the Main Quest(s) this first game with Boone and ED-E as companions, I've changed my mind. If anyone should fight the Legion, it's Boone. So now I've learned to play Caravan, gotten enough caps to get my armor repaired and am getting a few things lined up to set out on that path. Thanks. :)

I found that if I tell Boone to Keep Distance and Be Passive, he lets me get off the first shots. I don't tend to do that though because the fighting isn't my favorite part. I like having a bodyguard. Good luck out there.

Good to know you'll take him along for some happy Legion hunting! :) I actually put him on the backburner for the time being since I would like to try out the other companions and quests that are not directly linked to Legion. But I will definitely invite him along again when I decide to finally take on Caesar and every other Legion soldier east of Hoover Dam.

That said, I was a bit surprised at how attached I have become to his story because I always poked fun at Obsidian/Bethesda for their wooden character animations and sometimes disappointing voice acting....these faults made it hard for me to have any emotional investment in games like Oblivion and Fallout 3, and I only spent so much time with these games because of their insanely fun gameplay. Characters like Boone changed all of that. I find him to be one of the most memorable characters out of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, or for that matter, games in general.

I became very attached to Boone's story and also think it is one of the best. The voice acting by Jason Marsden is superb. I think it fit what Boone is going through. He lost his love and his best friend and wants payback and to set things right so others don't have to experience what he went through. The other character I felt strongly about was Martin in TESIV. He found his purpose and was self-sacrificing for the benefit of all. There wasn't enough interaction with him, I could have used more, but it was a great story to be involved with. Sean Bean also did a great job on the voice acting. I liked him before that role anyway.

See you in the casino. :D

And in keeping with the thread topic, Boone's not overrated. Let me throw that in there again. It is hard to keep his bad self supplied with ammo though. :D

I'm probably overreacting, but I am tired of people relying so much on Boone as a companion. His perk svcks because I can see the enemy fine and I would rather he focused on enemies I wasn't already killing. Every other companion offers a perk that makes my life far easier, but Spotter is simply redundant...

I like his dialogue/story and James Marsden gives a heck of a performance, but Veronica's story is just as compelling and SHE can kill everything in one attack as well. Yet I never hear people suggest her instead of Boone or discover the benefits of drinking with Cass or simply save a fortune on items with Raul and Arcade. Yes, Arcade's a bit of a weakling, but he starts off with a plasma pistol and can easily be given better equipment. And Lily is a TANK! For STEALTH characters! INCONcIEVABLE!

And yet... I still only hear about how awesome Boone is. I understand his ability is specifically killing people while you're looking, but this is just showing off, not practical gameplay.

Well depending on your computer if you have a really good comp and can slam up everything to ultra so you can see wayyyy into the distance, his spotter perk rocks if your using a sniper rifle/gobi campaign/anti material or gauss rifle or if your using a gatling weapon at the final battle and dont want your allies to start trying to kill you so your not hitting them so you know what area is safe to spray laster/lead down range.
So far Boone, ED-E and Lilly are my favorite companions, I like Arcade because close to the end you can get his familys power armor if you get him to stay at the fort in free side to help out. That armor is litterally the best in the game.

Sorry if I'm veering off-topic a bit as I don't know of any other thread that really gets into character discussion on these boards and I really wanted to talk more about Boone's quest, etc..

Do you have any ideas as to why Boone and Manny are no longer best friends? It's obvious to me that Manny is perfectly ok with continuing a friendship with Boone but it doesn't seem that way vice versa. Is it because Manny used to be a Khan member and Boone feels even more guilt when around Manny? For that matter, does Manny even know of Boone's involvement in Bitter Springs, since Manny found a way to opt out of the mission? I also wonder if Manny is gay and if that had some influence on his views of Carla, Boone's suspicion of Manny's possible involvement in her disappearance, etc..

Again, sorry if this is a thread derail.

Cause Manny is smarter and already accept things in Bitterspring to begin a new life; the other reason is Manny see right though that Boone's wife would either bleed him out or leave him.

But clearly the Friendship is still there; see how Manny take over Boone's shift when he is out of Novac.

I think it's pretty simple in Boone's mind. He said he could tell that Manny was actually glad about what happened to Carla and it hurt him to his core. For his friend to let that show was more than he could handle, especially after he did what he had to do to save her from her fate. I think I have that in the right order of events.

Good point and was something I thought of as well, even though I didn't put that in my initial post. I also wondered if Manny even offered to help Boone at all when tracking Carla down. It could be that Manny was unable to leave his post or Boone left quietly, not wanting to tip off someone he already suspected as being the culprit....

Then again, don't you think Boone may have been a bit biased when remarking that Manny seemed happy about Carla's kidnapping? When he tells you this, it is before you start your investigation and discover that Manny is innocent. Either way, I find that the death of a loved one can either bring you much closer to friends, or distance you from them.

When I first got to Novac on Benny's trail, one of the first people I spoke with was Manny up in Dinky because it was daytime and he was on his shift. He doesn't want to give info on Benny until the Ghoul problem is taken care of but he does talk about Boone and mentions Carla, even calling her a b*tch because he didn't like her. I think he was jealous and thought he was going to lose his friend to her. Good friends, really good friends aren't like that and they don't gossip about a friend's personal life to other people. At least that's how I feel. I tend to think that Manny was obvious about not liking Carla because Boone says, "I could tell he was glad." If he could tell, Manny didn't hide it well enough and yes, Manny may not have offered to help him find her (or other things we could write in. :) ). We learn that Boone says Carla is dead but no one knows how he knows that - and he's not talking at that point. Again, I think I'm remembering in the right order.

And yes, death can change many relationships...it's like a tide with an ebb and flow depending on people's connections with each other. I love how this game has drama and life lessons in it. More of that, developers. It was compelling. :)

Good points. :) I would have to play through that mission again or look it up on Youtube because my initial impression of the two was that Boone wrongfully blamed Manny(or atleast had some suspicions) and the rift stemmed from that. Ultimately I agree with the belief that they are no longer friends mainly because of Manny's callousness--or perhaps I should say thoughtlessness--- towards the whole incident. Anyhow, I kind of want to talk more about these characters but I won't stray from the topic anymore. :(

Caeser is practically designed to be killed by Boone. I think he even has his own special one liner after he pulls the trigger...Extremely Satisfying

The only thing Boone needs is a perk to look good in other hats apart from a Beret which I have grown fond of.

Same thing happened to me. I also was taking my loot off of him to store in my lockers one time and accidentally took that. He said he wanted it back and when I looked in my inventory, I only had 1. I reloaded the auto-save and made sure NOT to take his Beret.

You get his beret for completing a mission for him. It isn't supposed to be a glitch, you both have the beret.

No, its http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005188/ - as in X-Men Cyclops actor. I think he's channeling Clint Eastwood in this voice role.

ROFLMAO!!!! Oh fekin bloody hell! I had been thinking for SOOO long that all of you people were nuts! Spike's voice was no where in the game and I could not wrap my head around why anyone would say it was. Because I was confusing James MARSDEN with James MARSTERS. DAMN I am dumb! LOL. I hated Buffy and so Spike and Angel are the only things about it I remember!

Lol, except that it's not James Marsden, it's JASON Marsden. :D A developer confirmed that and said the correction to the end credits of the game would be fixed too. Thank Jeffredo for that. He contacted the Developer. :)

JASON Marsden does Craig Boone's voice.

I can't agree more! I just recently had a "friend" and his brother (sick I know) try to seduce my wife in RL. My "brother" (actually a friend so close to us we call him family) had a few choice words to say to them both. Rapidly... full strength (6'2" and 325 lbs)... and without remorse... mostly around the face and head.

I found Cass to be the more useful companion. Boone was fine but Cass just puts out a wall of bullets when the setting requires it. Just remember to keep her stocked up with plenty of ammo as she will tear through it in a hurry. With Ed-E and Cass I had no problems.

I stuck with Boone for most of my game. In fact, I've only started taking other companions along now that I'm level 30 (for some time now), have explored the entire Wasteland, and have completed much of the game quests. Really, I want to finish their side quests, and I want to see what kind of perks I get from each one in combat. That way, I can make a better decision when it comes to taking down Caesar and his minions.

Also, I am on PS3, so I can only have one humanoid and one robotic companion.

Where'd you find that bandana? The only ones I've seen were at the very end of the game and rangers were waring them. (I was pro-NCR)

That's a legion recruit helmet.

My main thing is that RAUL will function almost exactly the same as Boone(at least from what I have seen), given a non default weapon. He will attack at long range and get constant head shots when given a sniper rifle, and I like his perk better.

If you get his weapon upgrade(33% faster attack and reload) and give him a cowboy type weapon, he is likely really good as well. Have not tested though.

I usually get the 75% reduced weapon wear upgrade and give him a sniper rifle.

Do give him boones hat though, lol.
