The BoS and the Commonwealth factories.

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 7:45 am

Am I the only one who sees the vast potential the Commonwealth offers the BoS?

Boston has a huge manufacturing base, and a lot of the factories are in halfway decent shape.

If you have Danse tag along a lot he mentioned at numerous factories how they can get it running again to produce new weapons. Some factories he mentions could be used for power armor production.

Most importantly is the take over of Mass Fusion as it is actually still a working factory at its core. Sure the accounting area is trashed, but there is so much potential.

I can honestly see the BoS gaining so much from the Commonwealth.

yes, but each factory takes a lot of resources to take it, hold it, fix it, run it and maintain it. It's a logistical nightmare.

That is a good point, but they would have even more trouble DEFENDING the factories and manufacturing buildings, and they would need to make forward operating bases, or FOB's, near the places to support them with supplies, ammunition, and troops.

They were lucky with defending the police station, but they would need more fusion cells if they want to take control of a few factories

Which is very possible.

Throughout the game the lone survivor does serious damage the multpile factions and lore wise they won't respawn.

With the Vertibird and a few Paladins/knights in T-60 they should be capable of making a few FOBs to defend.

That's were mass fusion comes into play. Once you take it over they will always have soldiers in and out of it defending it.

Then good luck for them to make some of the factories that were abandoned and unused for 2 centuries up and running again, and making a landing zone for each.

And what if they wanted a factory that's full of Forged raiders, armed to the teeth?, or maybe its full of a raiding party of Super Mutant Overlords, armed with Fat Man's?

Well I haven't found a factory full of supermutants with fat man's, and T-60 is impervious to small arms according to lore...its as strong as a tank.

T-60 power armor isn't impervious to small arms fire, it only decreases the damage from them.

Lore wise....not gameplay wise.

Having impervious armor would break the game.

Lore wise though, the T-51 was impervious. And the T-60 is better.

don't worry the BoS will return , ( unless bethesda releases 4x Point Lookout DLC's )

it would be interesting to have some kind of faction alliances and making allied with BoS would require helping them build a strong force by conquering a few factories to produce power armor and fusion cells

The commonwealth don't need a huge complex. They could constructed Colonial age manufacturer buildings: Brickmarker, Blacksmith, Cobbler, etc.

OT, but qmadkins... learn to edit your posts, please.

This isn't a chatroom. You don't need to make an entirely new post every time you want to add a sentence onto your previous post.

It's one thing to accidentally double post, it's quite another to make 3-7 posts in a row like that.

Just saying.

@OP:

What you are pointing out is exactly why some players see the BoS as invaders, and a threat to the people of the Commonwealth. Personally, I think there is potential for a Minuteman vs BoS DLC...it's obvious that the BoS will strip anything of value for their own use, which the minutemen would be opposed to on all levels.

they are literally the ONLY ones that do something against Super Mutants / Feral Ghouls / Raiders - if BoS counts as a threat then i will eat my hat

Its been pointed out many times, also that the population of DC at least love your armoured ass when you deal with the Institute and that there is literally no sign of the BOS even planning to take over the region beyond the sensible plans to secure food supplies from settlements and yes you can take the third option to kill the settlers and ignore the first and second peaceful options (of course there is no real reason to do so unless your broke and have no charisma).

As for the factories, yes if BOS is the winning faction and they plan to stay in the Commonwealth longterm than the factories would provide excellent resources allowing the BOS to continue to expand their ranks and infrastructure. Also providing they continue to gain local support (like in the Capital Wasteland) the Commonwealth will also probably provide lots of new volunteers.

The question is, "Does people of commonwealth want the BOS?"

Who cares if the BoS take on Super Mutants, Ferals, etc?

Certainly none of the non-BoS npc's in the game...none of them even mention it. Besides which, that is hardly justification for stripping the region of it's tech resources.

If anyone doubts the validity of that comment, take a look at colonial history from any place in the world...at some point it always ends up in grief.

Putting aside that whoever wins vs the Institute is going to be popular, the fact remains that the BoS do not leave after the Institute is destroyed, and we would assume that they then concentrate on securing their position in the Commonwealth and commence stripping it. Tech is a resource in the FO4 world, no different to gold, oil, food or water...and it's a resource that the people of the Commonwealth could use for themselves at some point.

What tech resources has the BOS been stripping from the Region?

The BOS not leaving is kind of obviously due to the fact that the game doesn't end and stripping the player of all those BOS radiant quests (and only BOS since the other three factions would remain in their endings) would make little sense and would be widely unpopular.

Can you point to any evidence in the game or the lore of the BOS commerce stripping a region?

BOS has a particular interest in weapon tech and power sources for weapon tech but no real history of what your suggesting.

All we really seem to know about the Capital Wasteland is that the BOS is in control and volunteers seem to be easy to come by, maybe we will get more info good or bad in one of the DLC.
