The BoS' Stupidity

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 12:47 am

Dear fellow couriers

I was tasked to destroy the Mojave BoS chapter by Mr House. He recommended the self-destruct sequence.

I did as was requested, but a few things sprung to mind.

A) I could pickpocket the key cards needed. This is the friggin self-destruct machine people! More security needed!?
B) Nobody even bothered that I was touching the self-destruct computer, since the Head Scribe was right next to me
C) When I finally launched it off, an the alarm was blazing, none of the BOS members ran for their lives. There was no panic. I know they were meant to attack me but i Stealth-boy'd my way out.

Anybody else notice anything stupid like this?

I think they were already dead inside and just waiting for that moment. I love BoS but damn they are useless in the Mojave

A) There is not any need for more security. You are the only outsider allowed anywhere near the bunker.
B) The scribe probably figures that there's a lock on it so you won't be able to do any damage.
C) I don't have an excuse.

I guess for point C the majority of members might not have been briefed on what the alarms mean, hence the lack of running for their lives. I've actually had a few follow me out and try to kill me in the past.

I agree fully with the op it's ludicrously easy to bomb the techbumbs.

The title led me to think that you thought that the BoS itself is stupid, which is totally true.

Which would be stupid on their part.

Personally I just think it was a bit of an oversight by Obsidian. Unless the Mojave BoS truly don't value their lives....

Well they have a self destruct button in their base to make sure no one steals their tech. I'm guessing that killing themselves also preserves the knowledge that the brotherhood holds. So maybe they wanted to die.

My guess is the reason the people in the VR Lab don't notice you is because Head Scribe Taggart is too preoccupied with Watkins and Watkins is too preoccupied with herself for them to notice anything else :)

Yeah the BOS's presence in the FO games has only gone downhill. I remember the first time I played FO1 I wanted nothing more than to jump into that suit of power armor. FO2 dissapointed in that area( i loved the rest of the game) with a limited amount of exposure to the BOS. FO3 followed with a semi-strong BOS, but then in FO:NV it was totally weak again. I guess I always liked the idea of them being a super power even though they never truley were. In the future games I'd like to see a stronger presence weather they be in the main quests or not.

Then my friend, vote for a Barnaky influenced Fallout 4.
