The Brotherhood of the Axe

Post » Wed Aug 31, 2011 8:27 am

So, an idea was thrown around here a few months ago by the user http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/695350-oath-breaker/, about the Brotherhood of the Axe. When I read his topic, an idea started racing in my head, and being the RP nut that I am, I have decided to create, along with Oath Breaker,

The Brotherhood of the Axe: A Skyrim Community RP.

The Brotherhood of the Axe is a band of war veterans, barbarians, mercenaries, and other do gooders and nay sayers, that roam the frozen waste of Skyrim in search of many things; gold, fame, romance, challenge, blood, and most of all: honor.

Q: What does this mean for the forum community of Skyrim?

A: This RP will serve as a host of your adventures, fantasies, battle cries, battles, RP sessions, lore, and background for your Skyrim Axe wielding Warriors. Who is your avatar? What does he mean to you? Where did he come from? Why is he in Skyrim, and why has he joined the Brotherhood of the Axe?

You can use this information spread throughout this series of threads to experience and mold your RP in Skyrim, and to gain ideas, and stories from other veterans of the frozen wasteland. Use ideas form this thread series to expand on your own character, and to roleplay to the fullest extent.

Q: What do I have to do to join?

A: Joining the Brotherhood of the Axe is quite simple! Simply post in this thread, your characters name, some lore about him, his family clan, his background, and why he is in Skyrim.
Once you join, you can post adventures you have, expand on your character, and just have fun, drink mead, and make love to beautiful Nordic woman!

___________________________________________________________________________________

I will start of the Brotherhood of the Axe with my characters background, story, and family clan.

Name: Rocc Ice-claw
Family Clan: Ice-claw
Race: Nord
Age: 20
Height: 6'3''
Weight: 225 lbs
Body type: Muscular, very broad shoulders, a lot of upper body strength, very strong
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark Blue

Rocc Ice-claw is a Nord of very few words. When he was 3 years old, while in Whiterun, his grandmother, who raised him, blessed him from her trinket, a magical trinket of Frost. She died shortly after, leaving him to fend for himself, b ut left him her trinket. Being only 3 years old, he was picked up by a man named Grerud High-Wind, who taught him the ways of the Axe.

Rocc mastered the axe at a very early age, being able to wield 90 pound training 2-handed axes by the age of 16. He then picked up dual wielding, learning the art of slicing his enemies in a furious rage.

On the eve of Roccs 20th birthday, he celebrated with Grerud and some townsfolk at his farmhouse. That night, on that cold, windy night, a group of Dunmer Morag Tong bandits ambushed his farm, slaughtering all of the livestock, and took the life of Grerud also. Waking up at 3 in the morning to the sound of sheep being slaughtered, he grabbed his fathers axe and ran outside, only to find him laying face down on the ground, with a dagger stuck to his chest, pinning a note to him. Rocc picked up this note, and it read:

"You have what we want. We will obtain the amulet of Khaz'shanti. You have 3 days. We will be back."

Stunned, and highly confused, Rocc tried as hard as he could to think of what they would be talking about; he had no amulet, except..his grandmothers amulet! He hadn't wore it in years, Grerud buried it with her after she died of natural causes some 15 and a half years ago.

Running down to her grave, he dug up her coffin, only to be pushed back by a pulsing wave of bright blue light as his shovel hit the wooden door of her coffin. Bracing himself as he got up, he peered over the hole to her body; the amulet glowed with a bright blue light, and then it diminished. It was as if the light had just gone out. Rocc picked the amulet up, and held it in his hand. At this point, he felt a very strong calling, and heard in the back of his head "Ice-claw, Ice-claw" chanting like a beautiful song. He felt awakened, as if an inner strength of an entire clan had been reborn in his heart.

But, he had to put that aside for now; his livestock, father, and his wellbeing, had just been taken away form him by Dunmer assassins. He had to seek revenge. He had to find out why they wanted this amulet. So he made his way to Vvardenfell, as he recognized the extremely light bonemold armor that they were wearing.

Upon reaching Vvardenfell, Rocc stepped off the boat in Khuul, Rocc was again ambushed by Argonian blademasters, who threatened his life, asking him why he was in "their land". Absolutely confused, and unaware of the Argonian uprising in Morrowind, he was put in shackles, and drug back to a ship, and shipped back to Skyrim.

And this is where Roccs story begins in Skyrim. Who were the assassins? Why did they want his only possession - an amulet of his grandmothers - and what is this power that was unlocked within him upon touching the amulet?
Skyrim holds many answers, and he must find them out.

Being an axe user is not a prerequisite to being a member of BotA. :P It's just a common thing, most Nords use 2 handed axes because, well, they are amazing.
Any combat oriented warrior-esque player may become a member. :)

Then I am filling out a serious character sheet now! You'll have to forgive me, as I am new to TES series, and was referred to it by my tabletop buddies. I will try to do enough research to fit into the world as well as possible. I just started a new Pathfinder ( continuation of 3.5 ED DnD ) and made a character based off of the one I want to make in skyrim, so transition should be possible, and fun.

Code of the Axe:

"The Brotherhood of the Axe are savage, but not mindless... As long as you have an axe, there's respect in the skill and power it takes for another to wield such a devastating instrument. Some of the Brotherhood may be more savage in their warfare, but those who revel in others misery and despair will be banished and their axe taken by force!

We are honor bound! The golden rule of the Brotherhood, which is all but one... Our foes will fall and heads will roll by the weight of our axes!"

The Brotherhood of The Axe requires one small tribute from every member... A small, but honorable ACT OF ALLEGIANCE.
--------------------------------------------------------

An act of blood... READ CAREFULLY BROTHERS, for you are honor bound!

As you begin your adventure as a Brother of the Axe -- you MUST KEEP the FIRST AXE you receive FOREVER. Be it iron, steel, or a rusty antique with a dull edge.
It shall not be sold, it shall not be traded, it shall not be dropped, it shall not be forgotten...

As a rite of passage into the Brotherhood of The Axe -- the first enemy that you encounter -- be it beast, bandit, or demon -- you must kill it with this virgin axe. After this kill, you are a BROTHER OF THE AXE. But the blade of your axe will only taste the blood of one enemy.

After this ONE kill, this axe will be retired forever as a ceremonial artifact and serve as a physical reminder of your loyalty to the Brotherhood. This weapon must stay with you and your house/clan for all time. Keep it safe -- in a secret chest -- or if fortune favors you -- displayed proudly and prominently in your home for all your days...

WELCOME...

Here's my axeman -- I haven't really figured it out yet -- but I'll use that to start his story -- figure it out as I go. Just for fun... I'll write it as him.

Name: Untold -- strangers, friends and enemies alike call him simply "The Barbarian" as he has no name to give them...
Family Clan: Untold
Race: Nord
Age: Untold
Height: 6'5
Weight: Unknown -- Possibly many large stones
Body type: Imagine a shaved grizzly bear and corded muscle crisscrossing his arms -- hidden under mysterious tattoos...
Hair: Long brown, knotted and tangled. A long bushy brown beard. Again -- Imagine a grizzly bear...
Eye Color: Pale Blue

The Barbarian -- Second day after "The Long Frost"

I know nothing of this land -- Skyrim -- or the frosty Northern winds that blow my beard around my neck and somehow comforts my spirit. I have no memory of this place or of my life before I was freed from a timeless sleep from within the glacier. Two days ago, a winged beast -- huge -- like an armored snake shook the ice, my coffin, with FIRE from his gullet, and melted my body away from my tomb of ice. Or at least that's what the old man, told me. The kind old man, crazy, but kind in his way, is a skilled healer and master of restorative magic... He told me, he was discovered by a dragon as he was searching for runes within the ice cavern, scratched into the wall of my glacial prison...

The dragon howled and fire erupted from its jaws -- burning the runes off the face of the ice as well as freeing me from a dreamless sleep, or death. I know not. The old man saved his skin, or his scales rather (he's a lizard of some kind that is for sure, ugly as sin, but he believes himself to be a man -- yes, like I said, crazy -- but I call him "man" for his pleasure) and he told me this tale... He thinks me a demon -- trapped in the ice. I am a Nord -- this I know -- but like I said, I know nothing of this land.

My only possession is a rusty axe destroyed and mis-shapen from The Long Frost. It sits with me now at a tavern. I have no coin, but I am starving and thirsty beyond thought. I watch miserably as the tavern crowd sings, and dances, and drink themselves under the table... I eat their crusts of bread and mutton scraps they leave on their plates. A pale elf leaves his coin purse unattended at his table... My hunger tricks me into quickly pocketing it. Moments later I feel a dagger at my back and a sack is thrown over my head...

Second Day after The Long Frost? I'm in jail.

well, my character is not an axe user. He falls more along the lines of an Assassin-Mage, but is not afraid of strait-up fighting

Her spouse/lover. Yeah, a former slave/gladiator. But he's not a nord. And I don't know what time this RP takes place in. He may not even be in Nirn no more.

A sister of the axe is also viable. Nor is The brotherhood race specific. See the Code of the Axe above and the Act of Allegience. Thats all you need.

Also - the act of allegience means after this is performed, you can play whatever character you want.

Just retire your first axe after you make one kill and keep it forever which represents your promise to the Strength of our banner...
