The Capital

Post » Wed Mar 24, 2010 7:34 pm

These are some ideas that came up in a topic of mine.

I think it'd be really cool if in the next game in the CW the CWBoS should be a nation called The Capital and when you see guys in Power Armor they are just called Capital Soliders. Elder Lyons or Sarah Lyons should be the president at the time.

Not everyone can have power armor. They can have a power armor corps like the US army or a special ops unit. Lyons should definitely be the president, and they could take over Pennsylvania, maryland and the rest of DC. The pitt could be the factory place to make combat armor and armor, point lookout could be a agricultural place.

What may be interesting is, if the DCBoS did form some sort of nation and then the Outcasts are either forced out or they leave on their own accord. They then then maybe go north, take advantage of unknown advanced tech from the Institute in the Commonwealth to ultimately return to the DC area and present a serious, and truely BoS, threat to the new Capital idea.

If anyone wants to discuss this faction/game idea, do it here.

I don't want the next game to be in DC. There is still the matter of the Outcast. I would not mind hearing about the CWBoS, forming a City State but not a nation. They only control DC and don't have large numbers.

I didn't say it had to be the next game. And The Capital could be at war with the Outcasts who have gained numbers from more BoS leaving in the change to a nation. And about the CWBoS's lack of numbers to form a nation, they would accept citzens of D.C to join their citizenship or military.

Yeah but look at the "citizenship" of DC. Theres not that many people living there, the bulk of the people that are there are raiders and slavers or just stupid. Rivet City may join but they are independent people. BoS find out they have a lab and one of their guys is
Spoiler
android
the BoS would be all over them. They also don't have PA for every single person at least not if they start letting more people in.

It would be years before the BoS take total control of DC and form a nation. I don't want the next game to be decades down the road.

I agree. I don't want the next game to be in DC either, but it's still fun and interesting to speculate and suggest ideas of what may happen in the region.

Seems like after the defeat of the Enclave, the BoS is the only organized faction in the Capital Wasteland, and seeign as though they're so into helping the wastelanders and have general interest in the future of the region, I think they should form some sort of new state.

The issue of course is how will non-BoS people be accepted. Obviously if a nation is created then there have to be citizens and because the BoS is so small in numbers the wastelanders have to fill that gap. The feeling I got was, even though the BoS cared for the people there was still that sense of superiority and a general belief in the ignorance and childishness of the common wastelander. Because of this I maybe see the BoS taking in wastelanders as citizens, but some sort of 2nd-class one. I see, maybe, some sort of Caste-system coming about: orginal BoS members run the state, the military, and of course the tech, while accepting wastelanders to be laborers in exchange for their safety from the terrors of the Capital Wasteland.

I also noticed that every Brotherhood member that did not come from Califorina were kids when they were let in. I did not see any advlts being let in. And really could you trust people with laser weapons and PA? After all hoarding that stuff is pretty much in their DNA. They share water but I can't see them just giving people the great pre-war tech. There is also the whole matter of making the land usable for farming and then teaching the people that have lived in radioactive mud holes for 200 years the consept of farming and just basic hygiene. Getting them to understand the concept of an economy and government. What would happen if people don't want to join the BoS? Will Lyons people just let them be? What about after Lyons kicks the bucket?

MWBoS were able to expand so fast because they had this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtXhuaTcohY :), but maybe in the end it backfired on them . Lyons people don't have that.

For them to have just formed a nation in a few years would be very illigical for the reaosn I have posted in my last post. Maybe they formed the foundation of one but for it to be a force outside of the city of DC? I would have to say no, at least not for many decades.

I don't think many people are supporting the idea that it should be in the next game. Even if it was no one is saying that this nation sprung up the day after the events of Fallout 3 ended.

I realise that many people are not asking for Fallout 4 to be in DC but I am just saying if the game takes place, say in New York and the game is only 10 years or so after the events of Fallout 3. I don't want to see "Capital Soldiers" wearing T-45b power armour as a powerful faction. I don't really want to see the CWBoS in Fallout 4. I have a feeling they will be just due to fan service.. :sadvaultboy:

Yeah that would be pretty lame. Still, within the region of the Capital Wasteland, I personally wouldn't throw out the idea of a nation state having formed as the brain-child of the CWBoS. God knows, they're depicted with the mindset of stabilizing the city/region.

I am not dismissing the idea. I believe it will just be a matter of decades before DC is a functioning nation that could expand beyond its borders. Which would mean for Fallout 4, (if it is on the East Coast) we should not see any "capital soldiers" controlling things. I would not mind hearing from people about how "things are shaping up in DC."

I just have a bad feeling that no matter where the next game takes place there will be Brotherhood (just for fan service) and chances are if its on the East Coast it will be CWBoS and it will just be a very illogical story.

Lets say 50 years later after the events of Broken Steel. The water in the region is mostly pure. The super mutants are gone because of no FEV and the Brotherhood of steel is the primary force in DC. The Enclave forces finally surrender and are either executed or exiled and their PA confiscated.

Populations only grow because of good conditions, like food, a healthy environment, fresh water, and a stable governing force like a chieftain, a mayor, king etc. Maybe people might immigrate to the CW after hearing about the better conditions and there's a population boom. There obviously cant be soldiers all armed with PA, lets say like a CW version of the NCR.

Also these BoS are kinder to the people of the wastes unlike the normal BoS or the Outcasts.

In 50 years? I could see things going well. I can also see them trully taking on the role of knights. I say this because I just can't see the CWBoS letting in advlts, but for super rare times. I can see them only letting in Children. I can also see them becoming a military wing of a future DC government.

I can't see them being a super power like NCR or the Legion or the MWBoS was/is but a Super power in the region they are in yes and 50 years might be enough time for them to be ready to expand. Still not as far as say New York but still. There is alot of work just getting DC up and running, getting the people educated and something to eat and protecting them.

There is still the Question about: What happens if they come across another faction/city that is peaaceful yet does not want to join? Will they annex? Go to war?

There is also the Matter of the Pitt. We don't know what the outcome of that will be. Ashur could be turning out soldiers and weapons like crazy. Will he agree to set the slaves go? :ermm:

Outcast are still there and can always play the spoiler.

I can see the Capital Wasteland BOS turning into something like early Prussia, which is to say, an army with a state.

I'd like to think that when coquering the CW they would not hesitate to use force, and when they are already up and running they wouldn't be afraid to go to war.

Lyons and his BoS come off as nice guys. If they come across a peaceful faction that has no intrest in joining or even helping the BoS. Would they use force against a peaceful faction?

Very interesting idea. Based on how they came off as during FO3 I'd say they wouldn't. :/
If this story were to expand I guess they'd have to meet a "not nice" faction or the leadership of this Capital State would have to be much more aggressive by the time they met the rival.

If anything I'd assume the primary rival would have to be the Outcasts. I'll just reiterate my theory from before:
Maybe the Outcasts would be forced out by the State or just leave, and ultimately reach the Commonwealth and the Institute. Grow in strength by taking advantage of the hi-tech stuff there, return, and present a serious, and a very Brotherhood-of-Steely threat to the Capital State.

Interesting theory. While Lyons and his people start "civilizing" DC. The Outcast go off to find more advanced pre-war/commonwealth tech and become a future threat.

Exactly. We'd have a return (or should I say advent :P) of a true BoS to DC, a serious rival and the Capital State wouldn't have to compromise on it's "nice-guy" ways.

I'd be interested in hearing any theories concerning The Pitt in this scenario from other people seeing as though I never played that DLC. :sadvaultboy:

To me the Pitt is one of the better DLC for Fallout 3. Its quest line is not "good or evil."

I also wonder if the people of Megaton or Rivet City would let the BoS control them. Only advantage is that the brotherhood have the clean water, so I guess they can use that as means of getting other factions to fall line. What would happen if the purifier breaks?

Or another faction seeing that is the Brotherhoods main way of controlling others, attacks it. A faction like the Outcast for one, playing the spoiler.

Still can "clean water" really be that importaint for the people? Seeing as how the managed to live without it for 200 years.

Problem is the original ending was to be "Clean water for all!" but then Broken Steel changed that so the BoS control it and dispense it to others with drums.

I would think that many people would jump at the idea of being directly protected, along with the education and organization that the State would offer. Seems like the Capital Wasteland is especially dangerous so perhaps many would go for it. Also perhaps a huge propaganda campaign a-la Three Dog would help swell their population.

Rivet City and Megaton are very well protected on their own, why would they need the brotherhood? A propaganda campaign by Three Dog would help. So the people of DC know why the Super Mutants and Enclave are going way. Then again they might just think "well the Lone Wanderer was the real hero, no you guys."

Raider groups and slavers would also benefit from the Brotherhoods actions, which means they could grow in power. They could also become mercs for Ashur. Then there is Talon Company and the guy who paid them big bucks to cause chaos and kill good people.
