The Castle settlement.(Spoilers relevant to Minuteman)

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 9:26 pm

Who else here is using the castle (Unlocked during early game minuteman questline) as his main base?

The place is just sooooo good, easy to defend, comes with a weapon merchant by default (Old Guns Quest),and has a great view of Boston.

I'm doing a semi-not fast travel playthrough, meaning that I only allow myself to fast travel from and to one of my settlements.Actually I go very hardcoe and only fast travel between settlements that are part of my trade routes network.

The castle feels just right as my main hub.

Also, displaying my power armors on the wall over the gate is badass.

To take a bit of space for myself I built a double row of foundations on the east wall and have a metal structure overlooking the courtyard of the fort.

Also, the water purifier is already there,so that's a whole lot of water for free.

I have this as well, only wish the armory door could be closed and opened when you want lol..

I have 22 settlers there and all but 2 companions.. which i cant send there.. as the optionnis greyed out.. cant even send any more trade routes there so have to link others to other ones on route instead lol..

Heh that was the first thing i did inthere right after getting the radio to work:) Now i just hope they add the option to actualy build normal concrete walls and structures later on(via mod, patch or dlc) cuz i wud rly like to create some proper housing that isnt looking like a ragtag shack.(wud be happy with proper wooden, brick or metal structures as well i mean if we are rebuilding them from the ground up why the hell do my walls have holes in them)

Yeah I know, but honestly I don't like using third party tools.

What third party tools? Just download the mod, unzip it into data...? Not like NMM or whatever is required.

I have it fortified and walls rebuilt (using concrete fundaments as a wall XD) but also have built different villages like @starlight (also lots of turrets and sorrounded all around and with 6 best vendors built there).

Next I plan on making more stuff @Castle and maybe getting bunker hill next?

For anyone worried about build limit, here's a solution I found out:

While in workshop mode, throw some junk on the ground and scrap it. The game thinks you are scrapping parts of your settlement and thereby lowers your build meter. There, unlimited build meter for your settlement.

Wasn't cheat engine required? Besides FOMM or NMM/MO don't bother me.

Well tehnicly you dont rly but there is a floring option with concrete base and you can use those to "repair" castle walls cuz they are basicly concrete cubes with woden floring on top just give it a try its not perfect but still better than nothing.(as i said i wud love the ability to actualy build proper concrete walls or repair existing ones but we will have to wait for that i guess)

Cheat engine? No, and in fact I've no idea what that even is. All you've ever needed for these games(FO3, NV, Oblivion, Skyrim, FO4) is simply the mods, none have required external tools. As to NMM/MO etc, you specifically said you didn't like using 3rd party tools, those where the closest I could think of that you could mean, but where at no point mandatory for anything.

Just trying to help, as what you asked for already exists, and no other tools are needed (you also said you didn't want to use third party tools).

The only "mod" that I'm aware of that give us unlimited building count is this: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/132/?

It requires using Third Party Tool (Cheat Engine) to function. I don't mind NMM/FOMM/MO becouse mods don't require them to work (and I mostly use them for managing Load Order).

And I appreciate the help, if You found a mod that doesn't use Cheat Engine (or whatever else), is nice .esp plugin then could You post a link to it?

Oh, my. You're completely right, and I apologize profusely. I'd seen that mod there, but didn't investigate closely as I hadn't needed to yet. I totally get not wanting to run that!

Sorry, my bad!

Have you tried the solution posted above? Drop a bunch of stuff, scrap it, and the "Size" bar drops?

I've only concentrated on the castle since I had it unlocked. My guards are all geared in military/combat gear and the assigned artillery settlers are sporting yellow flight helmets. I have shops with corresponding settlers (medical has lab coat, bartender has vest suit with a fancy hat, my food people have mining helmets) haha. I sank many hours into it. Rebuilt the walls and the only entrance is the rear door. I ran out of capacity but if scrapping junk fools the game I'll be adding to it for sure!

Just moved in tonight. Doing much the same thing - equipping all the settlers with Military fatigues and Combat Armor (Thank you Gunners) and bringing back the US Military.

It can be increased by dropping a whole lot of items, then scrapping through workshop mode. At least what I've experienced on my playthrough. Looked up a YouTube video for it after and dude added a few steps that I'm not sure matter, but if you try it and it doesn't work I'd say look a video up on youtube.

Edit: Lol, noticed last reply too late.
