OOC: Oops, my bad.

Falco has about one second to react before he gets ground into a pulpy red paste by the Dremora.

Dedave cursed under his breath, glancing between the spot of Festus's death and his snapped string, if only I had not snapped the string he might still be...
He blinked quickly and reached into his boot, where wrapped around his ankle he found another string and pulled it out and laid his bow down flat. He quickly untied the previous and started stringing the second. He fumbled and the string fell into the dust, he swore under his breath and after a few more attempts attached the string and pulled on it back slowly to test his handiwork.

Bringing the sword loose seemed like a triumph, though the pain in his elbow cut down his mood a bit (ooc - taking a small liberty assuming elbow to skull contact hurts a bit). As he stumbled back just slightly from wrenching the sword loose, he realised that he had caught the attention of a rather big Dremora.

Blasted fool! His first thought was. Stupid son of a [censored] magician summoning stupid big monsters do stupid man work, if he gets me killed I'm gonna haunt his ass.

He was pissed, but the urgency and potential danger of the situation just about made fear override that emotion for the time being; and, having such little time to react, he tried to move back as far as he could while staying on his feet, and though it may seem a little foolish, also bring his sword flying in an instinctive swing towards the threat, that being the Dremoras rather large, rather scary shield. He wasn't sure what he hoped to do.

OOC I judge this to be about 20 seconds... plus the day for which my internet was down.

IC
Reem lay there, as Festus was beheaded, his sight still blurred by the paralysis. All he could do was listen to the wet thud and cries of horror, then as the sounds of battle washed over him, the clash of weapons, sizzling spells. He was desperate, almost anything was better than this helplessness.

Reem's finger twitched. He stopped in surprise.. he could move it! Slowly his body began to return itself to his control as the spell wore off, The shock of regaining his vision to the brutal scene before him set him on his feet early, still part paralysed, as he struggled to get involved. The spell wore off quickly but not fast enough to prevent him recollapsing, javelin half out of the quiver on his back. he landed properly this time however, quickly pushing himself up, desperate to get involved in the fight.

Fully recovered now, Reem closed in on the remaining skeleton, ready to do what he could to the thing

The Frost Atronach gave a creaking groan before it straightened, standing guard over Kurrian, massive arms at its sides.

The Dremora continued the charge, unable -or uncaring- to notice that Falco had dislodged the sword and he was likely to get crumbled. Rather, the Dremora continued to charge.

However, when steel clanged upon Daedric Ebony the Dremora knew it was not hitting the Skeleton, and last second redirected the shield. The result would be more of a glancing body-slam from the Dremora than a crushing shield bash for the swordsman. For the skeleton, it was likely to get slammed by the edge of the shield, as if it were punched.

OOC: Here's how bloody useful Kurrian is... Battle Posts no longer even include the cowering whimp!

ooc: I didn't expect this to take off while I was at class. Geez.. ><

Well, I hope nobody minds me controlling the Dremora's past enough to have it nonchalantly thwack me to the dirt on its way to being a threat to friend and foe alike. That's okay, right?

Also, Lycan, not sure if you noticed but there's no 80% range on the sanity chart.

ic: Amid the chaos and screaming, Karst maintained relative, warrior-like calm until Kurrian's Dremora essentially saw her as a roadblock and knocked her out of the way. Her bow fell from her hand and she let out a yell at being knocked over like a piece of flotsam, both in surprise and anger. She was about to put a good shock spell into the offending Dremora's head to let it know it was a servant here and it'd better remember it's damn place when something red and warm splattered across her face whilst she was getting up. She touched it, sniffed it and touched a little bit of it to her tongue all in the span of a couple seconds. It tasted like copper. "What the..?"

Then something thumped wetly to the ground a couple feet from her and she looked at it oddly for a moment. When Perenne picked it up, she too looked at it oddly, and both of them realized what it was at about the same time. Perenne screamed and Karst swallowed bile that'd welled up in the throat. "Oh my god.."

Karst had seen a lot of gruesome things in her life, from corpses on meathooks in the bowls of the Deadlands, their organs hanging out, to the results of her own little rampages through a bandit camp, but she'd never seen a person get beheaded. Daedra were one thing, but.. Wait if that's a head where's the..?

As if in unholy answer to her question, Festus's body fell in her lap, knocking her back to the ground. The Skeletons then began to drag it off of her and she looked up into their eyes, then at the body's gaping trachea. That's when she finally felt terror burning in her guts. That's when she screamed.

EDIT: There. ><

ooc: Disclaimer, this is Lycan's chart so don't shoot the messanger. He also pointed out these are guidlines, during a pm conversation we had.

Sanity of 100% = You're perfectly fine

Sanity in the 90% range = You start to feel a bit uneasy

Sanity in the 70% range = You're getting a bit nervous

Sanity in the 60% range = You're kinda creeped out

Sanity in the 50% range = You are scared

Sanity in the 40% range = You're jumping at shadows

Sanity in the 30% range = You're gibbering and muttering incoherantly to yourself

Sanity in the 20% range = You're starting to see and hear things

Sanity in the 10% range = You're babbling incoherantly, imagining things that don't exist, and essentially losing your mind

Sanity in the 1% range = You're clinging to the last few threads of your sanity - you're delusional, and prone to psychotic episodes

Sanity of 0% = You kill yourself, and anyone else who gets in the way

OOC: Yes, the Sanity Chart is really more of a guideline. Each person will probably react differently. Karst, for example, is obviously hallucinating, because Festus' head flew across the room several seconds before the Dremora even came into existance, and his body is currently in the tunnel where the skeletons are attempting to drag it away... :P

And FC4, I'll be gone for the weekend, too. I figure we can just hit the pause button for a day or two.

The skeleton on the right is obliterated by the force of the Deadra's sheild punch. However, out of the shadows leaps the other skeleton, which has apparently won is conflict with the Scamp. With a hiss (or whatever sound skeletons make...) it burries its silver dagger deep into the Dremora's chest, latching on to it like some sort of parasite.

ooc: Well, I kinda meant that to happen as everything was happening since, y'know, I missed the whole damn event. ><
I thought I had them drag the body off her. If not, I meant to.

And the Dremora existed the post before Festus' beheading, so hah. :P

Sorry, though, I wasn't quite sure what to do here since the whole thing kinda took off without me while I was at college. :(

Silver...

If there were any metals that stood a chance in hell of breaking through Daedric, it was Silver, Ebony, and the Coppery Dwarven material. Silver's magical properties aided it, and the the bronze of the Dwemer was strong. Ebony was the base material of Daedric objects, so it stood to reason.

That, and the skeleton got lucky, the dagger slipping through one of the few spots in the Daedric Armor that was open; the chain-link mesh just under the briastplates, connecting to the plates over the stomach. The silver pierced into flesh, but didn't get far as it became wedged between the plates it had slipped between. Daedric armor was renowned for the expert chain-plating that covered nearly every inch of the body in hard metals.

The Kynval roared in pain as the blade pierced between ribs and managed to puncture the lung. Recoiling back a step, the Daedra hunched over, the skeleton still grasping it in an embrace of death. Looking at the glowing red eyes through its own helm, the Dremora snarled, and tried to headbutt the skeleton off.

But whether or not it would be successful was irrelevant. The Dremora had stumbled back, closer to Kurrian, and the Frost Atronach deemed this to be too close. Thudding forward, the massive icicle blue hands spread wide, before the Atronach brought them together to clamp down on the combatants.

OOC: Sorry, too busy playing Fallout 3 to post.
IC: Jo'Shari stood still as the skeletons approached. It almost seemed like time slowed down to a crawling halt. The skeletons advanced as the Light spell flickered on and off. Jo'Shari watched in horror as the skeleton's weapon swung through the air, slicing it's way through Festus' neck. Jo'Shari saw eveything in perfect clarity. Every sinew severed, every droplet falling, every muscle cut, and so on. Jo'Shari stared as his companions went in, fighting the wretched things as time still crept by. With a roar he reacted, firing a fireball at the skeletons. Jo'Shari began throwing fireballs like a battle mage, precise and calculated, trying to avenge his comrade.

Folks... Let me be blunt.

I'm stretched too thin, and sacrifices must be made. I fear that this RP must be let go, in order to leave me with more time for college, family, and other things I've got to work on. So, I give you 3 options:

We can just quit...

We can leave it here, and maybe come back to it one day...

Or I can throw an UBER-BOSS and/or waves of enemies at you, and see how long ya'll survive.

What do you guys think?

Hey, its not my fault he didn't duck. I didn't even decide right off the bat to kill him. I made up a few ratios for his survival chances, and then rolled some dice. He landed waaaaaay in the "dead" category, so I had no choice but to kill him. I mean, come on! He turned around to look something in the eye right when it was about to swing a sword at him. There's no stopping death in a situation like that...

And besides, he died a totally awesome death. :D

As for how long it will take, we're looking at a few weeks... maybe a month. Possibly a bit longer...

Well, if it's only a few weeks, I'm willing to wait, but I'm fine with waiting or for the big ending 'your screwed' fight, so I guess I'm neutral on the whole thing.

Also, you gonna take care of the Cthulu game over at the Playground soon?

Personally, maybe I'm just being pissy, but I was kinda getting a bit irked with someone else having so much control over my character. It felt like.. I dunno, I was just being allowed to have minimal control over her as a favor even though I made her. Story was great, but not too hot on being totally powerless on that kinda stuff. Felt kinda.. demeaning. But.. then again that's why I never got into DnD. It was like.. "Oh, I don't care if your elf's 212 years old and has been shooting a bow all his life, he missed every shot because the dice say so." Maybe this just isn't my kinda thing.

I figured Atomic had asked you to kill his person but.. I'm just not comfortable with that kinda thing being so out of my sphere. I love you, Lycan, but.. just not my cup of tea.

Personally, I kinda like not having full control some of the time. It goes really good towards preventing ubering like, say... single handedly clearing out an Oblivion Gate without a scratch. *cough cough, wink wink*
'Sides, it was a great step away from the norm around here. Felt kinda good.

I didn't ask to have my guy killed , 'twas all done with a dice roll im guessing . But Im totally good with that , Festus should of ducked in the first place , beats those RPG's where everyone runs around without dying . Heaps of people say "your characters will die" ect ect in their RP rules but Lycans the only one so far who has stuck true to his word

I'm sure we can wait if it will only be a month or so, though I'm perfectly fine with getting attacked by an uber enemy and going down in a blaze of glory. Not that my character could actually do much in combat anyway. Probably all he could do is summon a dagger and wave it at the thing, which is pretty much why I haven't posted since the beginning of the fight.

And I for one thought Festus getting killed was cool. Really added to the whole sanity destroying atmosphere.
