The Cave

Alister frowned at the Golden Saint, but kept his thoughts to himself. The last thing he wanted to do was start an argument with someone whose name he didn't even know. Which ultimately was the problem. These people he knew nothing about. They were strangers, and he wasn't used to that. All his life he had had a comfortable sense of belonging. Whether it was growing up in his parents mansion in Skingrad, or aiding his master in the small village he later called home, he had always had a sense of familiarity, and that was gone now.

When the group arrived at the door, Alister went over to the cave wall and leaned against it. He continued his thoughts as they turned towards his companions, and he made a quick note of each one. There's the nice Breton girl who's somewhat insane, the annoying Khajit, and the interesting female Khajit, who he couldn't help but like, if only because he thought she was funny. The Altmer he was split on. While he was impressed with his summoning abilities, he was beginning to dislike the man's personality, though he couldn't pinpoint what exactly it was that bothered him. The rest he didn't know what to think of. They all seemed so professional, something he was definetly not used to. Though the pompous Imperial did get on his nerves ever so slightly, the rest had made no impact on him.

He eventually finished with his thoughts and ran a hand through his messy, blonde hair as he watched the group.

"Huh," Mick remarked towards the conjurer. "You know, your reading material is about as unusual as your skin color in our little group, just gotta say." He was quiet for the next short while, until the group came to a haphazard stop.

Stepping on the tips of his toes, Mick peered over the group, "What ho? A door? At last, my forte, and it hasn't been crushed by a giant green man yet!" He slipped forward, dodging around others. When he reached the rather beaten looking door, he stopped, watching the glow escaping from the Golden Saints hands, spreading across the door. "Hey, what's that doing? - Hey, what's she doing?" Not even waiting for a response he waved it off, "Ah, it doesn't matter."

Rubbing his hands together, he stood in front of the, and waved off the Daedra when she finished her spell he kindly waved her out of the way, a silent 'excuse me'. Once he had room he began to check the door for any telltale hint of a mundane trap, and pick the lock, if the door happened to be locked.

Falco strayed just slightly behind the front of the group, sword sheathed. The door wasn't exactly impressive; but he was unnerved by the marks. It didn't frighten him, per se, it just made him feel a bit uneasy. He could only imagine why they were there.

"Who'd you think made those?"

He asked out loud, to no one in particular.

" Have no clue, but are they valuable, maybe if i took a tracing and gave it to the mages guild" Dedave asked, he was only a few hundred feet into the cave and he was looking for valuable objects. once again he jumped ahead and pulled on the door, if there was anything of value he was going to grab it before anyone else. Of course there was always the possibility it was a trap however the money involved out weighed the possibility of death. He did not trust the others to split the loot so he knew his best chance at wealth would to be to find as much money as quickly as possible.

Everyone's attempts to find/remove traps from the door are in vain. There are none - at least, none that can be found.

Dedaves, however, discovers something. He discovers that the doorknob is broken. How does he discover this? The doorknob rips free from the rotten wood, and Dedaves suddenly finds himself flying backwards into the Golden Saint. The two of them collapse to the ground in a jumbled heap, and the door lands beside them shortly thereafter. Luckily, no one is hurt.

However, Dedaves might be recieving a rather nice dosage of pain soon, depending on where his hands landed, and how the Golden Saint reacts to having a random Dunmer land on top of her.

Nilloc, you have a few seconds to react. After that, FC4 gets to decide how his Summoning reacts...

Dedaves landed dazed, it took a few moments of staring before he noticed that the floor beneath his was softer than the stone, and the fact it was moving, he cursed under his breath and rolled to get off the summoned golden saint. Daedra where not the most patient of creatures and he did not want to get on the bad side of one. He raised his hands gesturing apoligetically like a scolded child would to a school master and muttered shyly "s-s-s-so..rry" bending his knees slightly expecting a blow from a wooden stick, or in this case a daedric weapon from a golden saint. He felt like laughing from his simple blunder however he did not think that the daedra had a similar sense of humour.

ooc: Is there anything note worth beyond the door, or is it just more cave, or too dark to see?

A soft, but playful gasp came from Perenne, as she grinned wryly, tilting herself forward almost conspiratorially. "Oooh! The Dunmer wants to defile a Saint..." She teased, winking playfully and raising a hand, index finger pointing up as though she were teasing a small child. "I didn't know you had a thing for the glowing women. Maybe if I cast a Light spell on myself, you'll want to land on me next time?" She giggled, before her thoughts became a bit more mischievous.

"Oooh! And I never thought of a use for summons like that... I guess it's a good way for those without skill in getting women, and with skill in conjuring them to have a bit of 'themselves' time..." She raised her hand, index finger still pointed, to press against her lips as she thought for a moment, her eyes gleaming with a playful light. Slowly, she turned to look back towards the rear of the group, the corner of her lips pulling up into a small, mischievous smirk. "You know... You summoned that Golden Saint rather quick... Have you had a lot of practice with it? I know you're rather quiet and shy... Perhaps you've already made a few Saints a little less pure in the past?"

She sent another wink of hers up towards the Altmer that her words were directed to, her smirk becoming a grin. She didn't really worry too much about the Saint's reaction. It was still a summoned creature, and it shouldn't harm its allies... She hoped. If that conjurer was a little less skilled, though, it may be easy to lose control of such a creature.

Festus was about to utter a lude sixual remark about Dedave's hopeless falling on the saint , but Perenne seemed to snatch the words right out of his mouth . This irked him somewhat , as he saw himself as the one in the group that was making all the wise cracks . It was as if he had been stripped of a valuable title .

"Yeah okay lady , we get it ." he said with a pout , his tone being more of a childish whinge then serious anger . He looked down at the door , and saw the serious scratch and gouges that adorned its cracked wood surface .

This snapped him right back into "adventurer mode" . He unsheathed his sword with lightning quick reflexes , the blade bulleting out of the sheath accompanied by the usual "Shwing" sound . He held it at his side , ever ready for any sort of manic rat or wolf that could erupt from behind the door .

"If your golden saint's done fondling Dedave's , it might be a wise idea to send it in there and search the area a little" he said to Kurrian .

"No, you didn't just make this whole situation anymore awkward then it had to be. Yeah. Nothing like a no-doubt-irritated Saint being touched up and a girl making cracks about it the rest of the trip." Mick commented, smiling as he spoke. Despite the overload of people constantly trying to prove their worth, he found that he could really like these people.

Rubbing his hands together, the lock-picker motioned to the door with a nod. "Well, now that I expertly diffused all those deadly traps and impossible locks on that impenetrable door, and we all learned a valuable lesson in impatient, greed, and misplaced lust, shall we decide how goes first?" He said with his usual smile, looking through the now open portal.

Falco laughed out loud, both at Dedaves fall and Perenne's quick comment. He didn't bother saying anything about that, but he did head towards the door.

"You don't have to cast a light spell on yourself to make me want to land on you honey." He said, rather playfully. "And you don't have to summon me either; I'm always willing." He only glanced at her with a cheeky smile as he said it, before looking through the door.

"I'll go first." He said, noting Mick's question without looking at him. "Might as well."

And with that, he walked through the door.

ooc: Sorry about not posting. Didn't honestly know what the hell to say. :P

ic: Karst laughed at the whole proceeding that went on around her, a soft giggle this time rather than her witchy cackle. "You guys are [censored]in' hilarious." she commented, still laughing. She wiped her eyes and walked towards the door.

Stopping next to the Golden Saint, she offered a small, gauntleted hand down to her. "Here, babe. Let me help you up." she offered to the Daedra. With exception of the majority of Dremora, Karst thought of the humanoid Daedra as people, and as such, treated them nicely most of the time. "If you're hurt, I can heal you. You may be a Daedra, but I know that doesn't mean you don't have feelings like the rest of us."

The Golden Saint had simply laid there as the mortal got off, then looked at each of the speakers in turn as they shot lude comments about the situation. When a hand offered to help her, the Daedra wordlessly accepted, and pulled herself up, before turning towards the woman, Perenne.

Being soul-linked as they were by the summoning spell, summoner and summoned shared their reactions to the jokes, though the specific thoughts were not. Kurrian could feel the Saint's irritation; she could feel his as well. Being of like mind, he actually condoned her coming action, as the Saint backhanded the magician in a rare Daedric [censored]-slap. "Seducers seek pathetic mortal lovers." Her voice rang out like an echoing song. "Their reasons elude me, as mortals are about as enjoyable as being stabbed. Next time you wish to mock, mortal, remember who you direct it at." Her rebuttal complete, the Golden Saint turned militarily and followed the man who had already stepped over the threshold of the door, drawing her sword.

"A Golden Saint is not as large as an Ogrim. They can create their mortal shells easier. As for the summoning, I was calling upon her soul as I was talking." Kurrian explained as he stepped towards Perenne and the others, as comfortable and pleased about the situation as he would be sitting on a giant hungry mudcrab. "Besides, Daedra have no interest in me sixually anyways." He muttered.

Perenne looked shocked as the Golden Saint actually stood and replied to her, her mouth dropping open slightly as she watched the creature step through the door. "... ... I didn't even know they could SPEAK..." She muttered under her breath, tilting her head slowly to one side to get a better look at the Daedra. Well, now that was a surprise in and of itself... Though its words were considerably less cheerful than she had hoped, especially since she had only been seeking to make a joke or two to lighten the mood. Especially considering what happened when the Saint spoke...

As she was struck, she staggered to one side, her surprise increasing only by the moment as she tried to recover from the blow, her cheek stinging. The sound of the blow still rung in her ears, the fleshy slap of the gauntleted hand of the Saint striking the smooth expanse of Perenne's cheek echoing through the caverns like a rifle shot... And its repercussions would be terrible.

As Perenne slowly realized what just happened, her eyes slowly clouded over, rage filling her eyes. Slowly, terribly, the mage straightened, her eyes burning with a fire that would rival Oblivion's depths, as she slowly turned her gaze onto the summoner that had dared to set foot next to her after his concoction had attacked her. "Oh really?" She asked, her voice like one of her Frost spells in its nuclear chill. She straightened her mage's robe front, despite the fact that it hadn't been tousled at all, her eyes slowly narrowing. "Well, I can't say I really feel pity for you right now. In fact, I think it would be much, much safer for you to get at least a hundred feet away from me, unless you want me to Paralyze you, and then use you as a shield when I go and kill that [censored]."

With that, Perenne spun on her heel, stepping through the door after the Saint. Oh, she would going to make sure that she went back to Oblivion in PIECES. She was going to make sure that when she killed it, that it would return to its home... Wait... Why would she allow it that privilege? Why would she allow it the ability to actually get back to its normal habitat? It would just reform later... So, why didn't she just... step in?

A slow grin formed on her lips, as she turned back to the group. "Soul Gems... Who has one? Give me a Soul Gem... Right... Now..."

Just as Perenne had turned to request a Soul Gem, the Golden Saint moved, a silent swirl of yellow behind the mage. Kurrian knew the intention the moment it began the attack, having felt the surge of anger at the woman who dared threaten her. He moved faster than one would expect from the thin-framed twig of an elf, his arm twisting in front of him and fingers swirling in a complex motion before snapping. Sparks of magic radiated from the snap of his fingers and the Golden Saint crumbled to dust, the dust that was once the golden blade falling upon Perenne's shoulder.

Kurrian stood on the slope in front of the door, his staff held behind him and arm extended in front with legs spread, shuddering in place as he tried to regain control of his breathing. He had managed to break the summoning in time to prevent a decapitation, but that wasn't the problem. That minor loss of control was. He'd nearly gotten her killed because his control had slipped...

"Please... understand... Daedra are fickle beings... and scorn relations with mortals beyond violence and summonings... More intelligent ones can be very sensitive and honor-bound. And are harder to control." Kurrian told her softly, still shuddering. "And don't turn your back on a pissed off Daedra. Ever."

Festus thought the whole incident was hilarious . A golden saint cat-fight? He was almost rolling in stitches the whole time . But when the Saint had barely begun to attack , all laughing was put aside , and the grizzled Imperial had become dead serious , holding his long-sword high .

He was about to Lunge himself between the two to try and break it up when the beautiful golden daedra had simply crumbled to dust at the hand of its master , who now looked more exasperated then anything . For Festus , this came as somewhat of a drop . The Altmer he had held in such high esteem had now proven that something may indeed go wrong in regards to one of his summonings in the future . "What good is a conjurer who cant control his conjurations?" Festus thought in his head with an dim grimace .

He walked over to Perenne , taking his pipe out of his mouth and rubbing it against the collar to get any "spittle" off . The moment must of come as somewhat of a shock and he saw it upon himself to help the woman any way he could...and maybe get some points along the way for being charming .

"Thats was pretty scary" He said in a condoling tone . "They say a smoke always helps ease the nerves"

He held out the pipe to the mage . "Its imported from High-Rock" He said with a slight smile .

Alister could only stare at the situation with the Golden Saint as he watched it occur. Though he did have to stifle a laugh, he made no lewd comments as the others did. He was shocked however, when the Daedra slapped the Breton girl. Not that he hadn't expected it to hurt someone, he had simply expected the Saint to hurt the person that had landed on her. Of course, he simply switched back to laughter when the girl decided to ask for a soul gem. Which promptly turned back to shock when the Saint attempted to attack her. In the end, he was concerned.

The Saint's attack didn't bother him so much as the fact that the conjurer hadn't stopped it all from occuring in the first place. He could, of course, understand how hard it might be to control such a creature, but at the same time, if he was powerful enough to summon it in the first place, he ought to be able to control it.

He scoffed when the Imperial offered the Breton girl a pipe, but said nothing. Again, he didn't wish to start an arguement. Instead, he simply remained where he had been standing and continued to watch the others talk, only vaguely interested in the conversation as he wondered what might be in the cave. He was looking forward to seeing whatever it was. He did want experience after all, and what better way than to see danger first hand.

OOC: Sorry. College. And Fallout 3. @__@ I'm sure you guys understand...

The room the door leads to was once a bandit's den. Luminous fungi illuminate the room, so you can see - albiet dimly - most of what is there. There are several crates scattered around the room, as well a few old bedrolls. There are the remains of a few campfires...

As well as a handfull of old skeletons. There are a four skeletons scattered around the room - they're quite decayed, and probably have been here awhile.

You also notice an old desk in one corner of the cavern, which has a few potions and books on top of it. Oh... and there's a coffin next to it.

OOC: Lucky bastard. I get Fallout 3 on Saturday (Birthday party). Have you played the originals? Those are a must-play if you like turn-based RPGs. How is Fallout 3?
IC: Jo'Shari tried to contain his anger. The silly Breton girl was enraging him further with every passing moment. First she went and overkilled a rat with a magicka-wasting lightning bolt, and now she had taunted the Conjurer's Golden Saint into essentially destroying itself. Jo'Shari went in after the others, looking around the room. It was lit by a bioluminescant mushroom. Jo'Shari figured an Alchemist would like having them. Jo'Shari spoke up, "Someone check that coffin. Be careful, might be a trap." Jo'Shari looked back and beckoned at the one man who had summoned the scamp. He yelled, "Hey, healer! Could you stand by while someone checks that thing?"

Dedave did not think twice, most would have thought it stupid, or even suicidal however he was not one for think ahead. He skipped jollily to the coffin and grabbed the edge and pulled up. Finally time for something he was good at mindlessly looting anything of value, jewels, gold, weapons he had no clue what was in the coffin but he wanted it. He was always one to be inspired by money, that and food could get him moving faster then anything else, and he had the financial opportunity of a lifetime in that cave.

Perenne was frozen with hand outstretched, ignoring all the people around her completely. Even as they passed her by to go and check on what lay in the cave behind her, she remained with her hand still trembling in midair, the look of rage gone only to be replaced by half-paralyzed shock. Slowly, she turned her gaze down to her shoulder, the gleaming golden dust there a reminder of what had nearly happened. She would have lost her head... She had had her back turned to the Saint, she would have had her head removed in a single strike. There would have been absolutely nothing able to be done about it. Healer or not, her head would have been slice, gone. She would have joined that Saint in Oblivion, all in a mere moment...

Her mouth worked soundlessly for a few moments, as she turned her gaze to the man that was holding his pipe out to her. The strangled sound that emerged was meant to be 'I don't smoke...', but as it was, she couldn't talk around the lump that had formed in her throat, blocking it so much that it was hard to swallow and breathe, let alone speak. After a moment, though, she just waved her hand, slowly turning into the cavern. Not speaking a word to the others, she simply walked inside, ignoring the shining fungus around her, and the coffin. She just kept brushing at her shoulder with one hand, small plumes of golden dust coming off with every pat, and her gaze locked on the floor between her feet.

I nearly died... I nearly died... I was nearly killed, just like that... kept echoing thorugh her head, overriding all other thoughts.

Falco wasn't interested in the skeletons, or the coffin. He headed over to the table next to the coffin, making sure to just stand as far away from the actual coffin as he could. He didn't want to get caught in a trap because of one persons eagerness.

Wiping off the dust from the top of the books, he made to look at what they were labelled, and to see if their were any labels on the potions either.

OOC: Basically, he's finding out what they are, without opening them though.

Oh, and if the potions are valuable, he'll take 'em, I don't want anyone jumping in to steal them just because I can't get online 24/7

When the annoying Khajit asked him to help by the coffin, he didn't move, but instead wondered what might be inside it. Surely, at worst, it had to be a vampire. A very angry and hungry vampire. Whose meals consisted of rats. Which would make the rats what, exactly? Can rats even be vampires? I guess that would make them starving, angry, vampire rats. And for some reason, that made Alister burst out in laughter. Normally, he wouldn't have laughed, but that thought just seemed hilarious to him. Of course, the situation wasn't at all humorous, so he quickly contained himself.

When someone threw open the coffin however, he just shrugged and headed over to see what was inside. On his way towards it, he noticed the Breton girl acting strange, and he looked at her, concerned. He would have asked if she was okay, but under the circumstances, he decided to go watch the coffin and get back to her later. She's probably just in shock. Nothing I could do to heal that anyway, she'll get over it.

OOC : Im getting my fallout 3 copy today so I'll be gone for a majority of the weekend :P My character will just tag along with the group in my absence .

IC :

"Oh well" Festus thought when the woman refused the pipe . "If you dont smoke , you dont smoke" . He put the pipe back in his own mouth and followed the group through the door .

The first thing that instantly caught his eye was the coffin....and it seemed other's were interested in it too . What could be contained inside? A trap? A ancient vampire? Or maybe even a door down to some forsaken chamber containing etheral and unearthly secrets?

Festsus stopped his mind from wandering and snapped back into concentrating on the situation . "Maybe there will be goods to grab...maybe even this junk Im supposed to find for mr whatsisname...." He said to everyone as he made his way up to the coffin .

"then again....if the loot is worth more then what Im getting paid for , Im scooting off to a different province . Always wanted to have my own little dingey shack in black marsh , Just me and my books"
