[RELZ] The Census and Excise Office

Post » Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:21 am

I found out what was wrong. I didn't notice that when I was uploading, at the screen it had the "return to overview" button at it was saying "file was not a photo." Apparently the site doesn't recognize .PNG files, so I just switched to .JPG and it worked fine.

However, even when a picture uploads fine, I still get that error when trying to use the "return to overview" button.

It's supposed to recognize .png files. I'm sure Fligg will be right on that as soon as he can.
In the meantime, anyone having problems uploading images should try changing them to .jpg.

Yes, it certainly should accept them. I am increasingly becoming a fan of the png format, so I definitely allowed for it. Probably just some minor typo somewhere. I'll add it to the list.

okay, i seem to be getting a CTDS quite frequently when killing creatures.....

I think i know the reason, if you get in combat with multiple enemies, you hit one, but then if your next hit kills a different creature, the CTD happens. Im guessing this is to do with the new kill detection scripts....which now i mention, are working for me :)

I have a problem where it shows lots of spells failures on my character. As I'm sure I didn't fail that much, I think it has to do with an enchanted weapon being out of charges. The fact that failures do match the type of enchantments on the weapon backs this up. I hope this can be fixed.

I'll check the death routines for the creatures. Have you had this problem with NPCs?

There is no way to differentiate between casting a spell and casting an enchantment unfortunately. The engine handles them in exactly the same way so far as I am able to detect via scripting.

I think that may have been what happened to me the last time I froze. I was fighting three different NPCs and I killed one and I think my companions killed another. All I know is that when my guy fell, my computer froze.

I'm not sure whether or not this bug is caused by CnE or MCP as it only started to occur after updating both after one play session. Basically, whenever I'm in combat and try to change cell (outdoor only so far) during the attack animation, the game seemingly freezes. Normally the game doesn't CTD or freeze, but after updating those two mods this has happened four times in a row.

The mod's still awesome, though.

Hmm, I haven't encountered that.

You know what's funny about the Census Office? Seeing other people's Load Orders... Some of them are really scary, and I have to wonder if their game is still functioning correctly. :P

@ Fliggerty: I started a new character, and I'm happy to say that all the bugs I previously had are gone. http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/cne/cne_viewchar?id=1168 is looking good! (except Times Traveled... I've been on a few boats/striders)

I havent noticed it with NPCs, but i do get it when they summon stuff. For example, i hit a summoner, then i go to hit him again, but he summons a ghost in front which i instant kill....then the game crashes.

I presume it would happen with NPCs, but i dont tend to get mutliple NPCs together where i cant focus on just one.

@skydye: Thanks! :hehe: I presume that soon we'll be seeing even more newly vibrant screenshots? ;)

@Pluto: :celebration: (I'll double check that traveling script.)

There are two potential crashes that have been reported recently, and what you both report fits perfectly into those. I believe I have solved the non-combat related one, though I am still looking for further confirmation from those testing it for me. The combat one has become a real problem; it may necessitate entirely revamping the kill detection scripts. I'm still brainstorming that.

I'm a bit too lazy to load this up right now, but I do plan to in the coming days. I don't need to make a fresh character to use this, yes? I expect it might not track my spell failures and all that if I don't have it loaded, but it should read everything else from the save just fine?

The uploader is able to display most of your info correctly when installed mid-game. But to get all the info you need to start a new character.

See http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=3001. :)
Or read the below, quoted from that thread. :P

1. On the Census and Excise homepage click on your character.
2. On the resulting page, click on the big button at the top that says ' Menu' and select 'Upload Images or Journal'
3. From there, press the 'What you want to upload' button and select 'Upload Character Avatar' to change your avatar on the main page or 'Upload Full Profile Picture' to change the full profile picture on your character page.

Make sure the image file you want to upload is in one of the following formats:

Jpeg/jpg, gif, or png

Happy Uploading!

Oooh I see now, just was a matter of allowing the page with no-script and now I can get the drop-down thing to work. I thought it was static and referring to the page, not the list.

Thanks!

EDIT2: NEW problem. I just tried to upload some screenies in the .BMP format, because, quite frankly, JPGs have [censored] awful quality. I got the "not a photo" message again. So far, JPG is the only type that has worked for me. Is this being worked on/looked at?

Yes, though bmp will never be allowed. This is the web, so web-acceptable formats only.

I didn't see where you mentioned before you had that problem. What happens when you try?

I am having this same problem, making it so that I really can't use this. Which I am incredibly disappointed about, I made a new character for it and everything :(

I hope it doesn't turn out to be too much of a hassle to fix the issue Fliggerty. Good luck!

I have no option to. I go to my gallery. Pictures are there, captions are there. I see no way to delete them.

I'll check it out. The delete link should be under the image in the gallery view, not the full-size image view. Do you not see it there?
